Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Following the guidance of the Spirit-Seeking Array, the two of us made our way to an apartment building.
At the entrance stood two figures, a man and a woman, leaning into each other.
Jiang Shaotian said, “Hu Xiaoman and Zhu Songan?”
I nodded.
Whether the woman was Hu Xiaoman was still hard to say, but that short, pudgy silhouette was far too recognizable.
“Let’s wait for now. We’ll move after they split up.”
Ten minutes later.
The two of them were still all over each other, and their embrace was only getting tighter.
Jiang Shaotian said, “I can’t watch this anymore.”
Seeing Zhu Songan’s piglike mouth about to land on Hu Xiaoman’s lips, my temple twitched hard.
“Neither can I.”
The moment I finished speaking, Jiang Shaotian slapped a hand against my back and shoved me out of the shadows.
Carried by momentum, I stumbled several steps forward.
At last, I stopped two meters away from Hu Xiaoman and Zhu Songan under their horrified stares.
I gritted my teeth, raised a hand, and greeted them. “Good evening. What a coincidence, huh?”
Hu Xiaoman’s expression changed instantly. Furious, she charged at me.
“Yun Ruyi! You actually followed us all the way here!”
“Give up already! I’ll never let you steal Songan away from me!”
Her eyes were bloodshot, her expression twisted.
Seeing this, Zhu Songan turned and tried to run.
I shouted behind me, “Jiang Shaotian! Stop him!”
As I spoke, Jiang Shaotian had already darted out, chasing after Zhu Songan at top speed.
Hu Xiaoman had reached me by then, clawing and swinging as she tried to hit me.
I frowned, bit through my fingertip, squeezed out a drop of heart’s blood, and quickly smeared it across Hu Xiaoman’s eyelid.
“Evil spirits, begone! Break!”
Hu Xiaoman froze, her gaze turning dazed.
I pressed her down to sit on the ground. “Sit here and clear your head.”
With that, I hurried in the direction Jiang Shaotian and Zhu Songan had gone.
I hadn’t chased far before I heard Zhu Songan’s screams.
He was sprawled on the ground, clutching his head, while Jiang Shaotian straddled him and rained punch after punch onto his body.
“You damn fat pig! How dare you ruin an innocent girl like this!”
“You’re seriously fucking vile!”
Zhu Songan howled from the beating.
When Jiang Shaotian saw me come over, he looked a little smug. “Sister Ruyi, look! This pig demon can’t even beat me!”
Zhu Songan wailed, “I’m not a pig demon! I’m not!”
I crouched down and looked at him, then took the Demon-Subduing Mirror from my pocket and shone it in front of him.
Seeing that I said nothing, Jiang Shaotian grew anxious too. “Well?”
I looked up at him. “He’s not a demon.”
Jiang Shaotian said, “Huh? Is that mirror of yours broken?”
Just now, I had suddenly remembered where that faint, familiar feeling from Zhu Songan had come from…
I stood, my expression turning much more grave. “Take him back to the Jiang family first.”
