Inside the little motel room, Cheng Jie crouched on the floor with his head in his hands, sobbing uncontrollably.

The once-proud favored son of heaven had fallen into utter misery.

Jiang Shaotian couldn’t help cursing. “This Song Yu really isn’t human.”

I nodded. “He never was.”

Jiang Shaotian fell silent.

The so-called Charm Fox was a branch of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan. They loved beauty above all else, were quick-tempered and fiercely jealous, and were adept at seduction and shapeshifting.

I hadn’t heard any news of Charm Foxes in nearly two hundred years.

Who would’ve thought one would brazenly show up in the public eye like this?

And even become a pop idol everyone fawned over.

Jiang Shaotian asked me, “Sister Ruyi, now that we’ve confirmed his identity, what do we do next?”

I raised a hand in a quieting gesture.

Jiang Shaotian instantly fell silent.

Cheng Jie also stopped in a panic, not daring to make the slightest sound.

I sniffed, then lifted my head and looked toward the ceiling.

“That damn fox came uninvited.”

On the completely exposed rooftop, I looked up at the huge crimson fox crouching on the edge.

Honestly, if its scent weren’t so overpowering, it really would be quite pleasing to the eye.

Its fur was sleek and glossy, and its appearance was strikingly beautiful.

This was the Charm Fox.

It tilted its head at me, a glint of cunning showing in its narrow eyes.

“So you really are a Demon Subduer.” What came out of its mouth was Song Yu’s voice. “Were you at the city stadium today? Did you take my clothes?”

I said nothing as I watched it, my left hand hidden behind my back as I quietly formed a seal.

The instant the Fire Thunder Seal took shape, I flung it at him.

The Charm Fox didn’t panic in the slightest. With one kick of its hind legs, it dodged with ease.

The Fire Thunder Seal exploded in midair, flames bursting bright before vanishing in an instant.

The Charm Fox lightly leaped to the left side of the rooftop and studied me with some curiosity.

“You’ve got some skill. Which one of the Ten Great Spirit Sects are you from?”

I frowned at it. This Charm Fox had far deeper cultivation than I’d imagined.

This was probably going to be hard to handle.

I put on an easygoing front and said, “You’re not bad yourself. You could’ve stayed hidden and lived freely, so why insist on coming out and harming people?”

Its deeply alluring fox eyes narrowed, and a dangerous aura suddenly rose from it.

But it still showed no intention of attacking.

It only said, “I came here to give you one warning: stop meddling.”

“Otherwise, I don’t mind draining your spiritual essence to nourish my Demon Soul.”

With that, it nimbly jumped down. The fiery red figure instantly turned into a wisp of smoke and disappeared.

A few seconds later, Jiang Shaotian ran out from the stairwell where he’d been hiding.

“Sister Ruyi, that Charm Fox didn’t seem like it had any real malicious intent.”

I gave him a look, stopping short of saying anything.

Jiang Shaotian froze. “What is it?”

I pointed in the direction the Charm Fox had left. “It wanted to eat me just now. The only reason it backed off was because it was wary of the Ten Great Spirit Sects and this Dragon Token on my chest with its unknown origins.”

“Thirty years ago, a disciple of the Luo Family of Qingcheng died tragically while traveling. Rumor says the Charm Fox was responsible.”

Jiang Shaotian fell silent.

“Forget I said anything,” he said.

A gust of night wind blew past, and I couldn’t help shivering.

“It’s freezing. Let’s go back and sleep!”

Jiang Shaotian followed after me. “So when are we going to capture that Charm Fox?”

I hopped down the stairs. “Capture it? Capture what? I can’t beat it.”

“That thing’s a monster that’s lived for over a thousand years. Its cultivation runs deep.”

Jiang Shaotian said, “Then what do we do?”

I yawned. “Sleep first. We’ll talk after I wake up.”
