Chapter 5
Chapter 5
I shuttled through the newborn world.
This time, it was a CEO romance full of physical torment and emotional abuse.
The System told me the male lead was handsome, dashing, and rich enough to rival a nation. “This one is a smash hit among CEO novels, you know.”
I nodded. “Whether he’s handsome or not doesn’t matter. I just like rich men.”
“However, you should mentally prepare yourself,” the System warned me gravely. “After all, you know how these novels may look like they’re written for women on the surface, but at their core, they still serve men.”
“Meaning?”
“The male lead of this world may need to borrow your corneas…”
Me: “……”
After some deep reflection, I refused. “I’ve suddenly realized I’m not that into money after all.”
Hearing that, the System clicked its tongue. “No, seriously, do you still want to go back to your original world or not?”
The implication was that I had no choice.
When I opened my eyes again, I was already in a magnificent, extravagant room.
I looked down at the dusty, gray work uniform I was wearing and immediately felt that something was very wrong.
This time, it seemed I had transmigrated into a poor person.
The situation had gotten even worse.
According to the plot, this KTV was where the two of them met. In order to find a suitable cornea donor for his fiancée, the male lead, Lin Chen, came to the place where the female lead worked-only to discover that she looked very much like his childhood sweetheart.
There was no time to lose.
Before the male lead could arrive on the battlefield, I immediately took off my work uniform, let my hair down, and cut my skirt shorter.
Then, when he pushed the door open and came in, I pretended nothing had happened and walked out.
“Sorry, wrong room.”
However, the instant I was about to leave, a powerful force suddenly grabbed me. The man’s expression was dark.
“Wait. Is your surname Yu?”
“You’ve got the wrong person.”
“I feel like I’ve seen you in this private room before.”
“Really?” I glanced at the sleeve he was gripping and raised an eyebrow without a care. “Then next time, I’ll request you again, handsome.”
“…”
He was just about to retort when a cold laugh sounded from behind him.
“I’ll testify. I was the fruit platter.”
Lin Chen’s face went cold.
I turned at the sound and saw a teenage boy in a baseball cap standing around the corner, staring at us with a gloomy, sinister look.
Lin Chen seemed rather wary of him and quickly left.
The boy lowered the brim of his cap and walked past with both hands in his pockets. The instant we brushed shoulders, those twin cinnabar moles struck like a flash of lightning, igniting my memories all at once.
“Wait, you only changed your hairstyle?”
“…”
The boy stopped, his expression cautious. “Are you talking to me?”
The moment the words fell, we both went silent.
Our eyes met. Where our gazes touched, there seemed to be a faint electric current.
I touched my completely unfamiliar face and only then remembered that this was not the previous world. I could only force a smile. “Nothing. I mistook you for someone else.”
The boy’s red lips curved upward, and only then did I notice he had a lollipop in his mouth.
His beautiful features looked delighted, even carrying a lazy hint of a smile. “If you want to thank me, miss…”
“Don’t worry about it. I just thought he was annoying.”
I had wanted to draw a few more words out of him, but then I looked at his understated yet luxurious clothes, and then at my own pilling short skirt…
All I could do was sigh softly. “Okay. Goodbye.”
“……”
