Chapter 70
In the Strange Tale World.
The Dean’s mocking, sarcastic words came one after another.
“What? Are you afraid to make a move now?”
The Dean looked at Jiang Li with a sneer. “Every man for himself, and heaven and earth will destroy those who don’t!
I acted for my own interests; I am not wrong! You act for yourself; you are not wrong, either.
We are the same kind of people, so why must you kill me?!
Why don’t we join forces? You’re smart, and my Madhouse needs someone like you!”
The Dean tried to persuade Jiang Li, wanting her to submit to him and give up attacking him.
Jiang Li did not respond, only stared at him coldly.
Just as Jiang Li was caught in a dilemma, a System alarm suddenly rang in her mind.
[Error, error!]
[Surface World “Jiang Weisen” link failed! Surface World “Jiang Weisen” link failed!]
[System malfunction, System malfunction…]
A flicker passed through Jiang Li’s eyes.
A failed link could only mean one thing:
That person had already died in the Surface World.
Her father did not want Jiang Li to struggle.
He had already made the choice for her.
Tears shimmered in Jiang Li’s eyes.
She had to win this round!
“You and I are absolutely not the same,” Jiang Li said coldly.
“Red Infant, tie him up!!”
After she spoke, Jiang Li gripped the dagger and stabbed forward resolutely.
The Human Blood Dagger plunged into the Dean’s abdomen.
At the same time, the hovering Scalpel stabbed fiercely into Jiang Li’s body.
Both of them spat out a mouthful of blood simultaneously.
Jiang Li bent over, instinctively clutching her bleeding stomach.
She glared coldly at the Dean opposite her, who spat out a large mouthful of black blood.
And from within the Dean’s body, endless black mist seeped out.
The Dean’s body gradually shrank, becoming smaller and smaller.
Finally, under the corrosion of the Human Blood Dagger, the Dean turned into a puddle of black, sticky fluid, left on the ground.
The Human Blood Dagger was also “destroyed” at the same time.
Jiang Li looked at everything before her, her stomach bleeding.
Yet the corners of her mouth slowly curled into a cold smile.
She had won.
She had finally… won.
With a thud, Jiang Li’s body collapsed onto the ground, her consciousness growing more and more scattered.
“Mommy! Mommy, are you alright? Mommy…”
Red Infant’s voice became increasingly faint.
Before losing consciousness, Jiang Li saw the faces of Doctor Hao and Red Infant.
……
Jiang Li woke up again.
She was on a cold operating table.
Beside her, Doctor Hao, dressed in a Surgical Gown, was operating on her.
Jiang Li managed a weak smile. “Why did you save me?”
Doctor Hao paused when he saw Jiang Li awake.
He continued working, his mouth moving, but his voice carried little emotion.
Doctor Hao said, “Did you forget? Doctor’s Rule One.”
Doctor’s Rule One: when a patient is injured, you must assist at once.
This is the rule!
Jiang Li smiled faintly.
Yes, this is a world of rules. Everything must follow the rules.
“You’re not a psychiatrist, are you? You’re so skilled at surgery; it’s obvious you’re a surgeon,” Jiang Li said confidently.
Hao Huairen is a surgeon. That much was clear.
Doctor Hao did not deny it. He nodded. “Yes. I am a surgeon. And… Doctor Lin is, too.”
Jiang Li had asked Doctor Hao about Doctor Lin before.
But back then, Doctor Hao hadn’t wanted to say much to Jiang Li.
Today, however, Doctor Hao brought up Doctor Lin himself.
Doctor Hao continued, as if talking to himself, “Doctor Lin is my senior. The Dean always mentored her before.”
Jiang Li followed up, “So where is Doctor Lin now? The Dean is dead. Surely you can take me to see her now.”
Doctor Hao’s eyes flickered.
After a long silence, he replied, “Alright.”
After the operation, Doctor Hao found a wheelchair for Jiang Li.
He pushed Jiang Li to Floor 0 of the building.
Jiang Li looked surprised. Isn’t Floor 0 only opened during Emergency Room transactions?
Jiang Li deliberately said, “How strange, I’ve never seen Floor 0 before.”
At the corridor entrance to Floor 0, the swirling black mist was especially thick.
Doctor Hao spoke indifferently:
“Every time I mourn Senior Sister Lin, the passage to Floor 0 opens.”
Doctor Hao pushed Jiang Li and walked inside.
The decorations and furnishings on this floor were very warm and homey.
It looked much like a little home.
But the air inside was as cold as an ice cellar.
Passing a storage room, Jiang Li saw it was filled with Spirit Money and Yellow Paper.
On the table, a printer was frantically working, spitting out many little slips of paper similar to those describing “Madhouse Horror Rumors.”
And here, Jiang Li saw a familiar face.
The Little Girl who had been missing for a while, dressed in a pink dress with twin ponytails.
The Little Girl was sitting on the floor of the Block Room, enthusiastically stacking blocks.
She saw Doctor Hao and smiled sweetly, “Uncle Hao, you’re back.”
Doctor Hao gazed at her gently and nodded.
After the greeting, Doctor Hao walked to the largest white carved wooden door.
He took a moment to compose himself, picked up a bouquet of roses from outside the door, and then entered with Jiang Li.
As soon as Doctor Hao entered, the roses in his hand withered rapidly.
Inside the room, there were countless withered red roses.
Each rose represented one of the many times Doctor Hao had come here.
Now, the room had become a sea of flowers.
Looking at all the red roses covering the ground, Jiang Li could already guess most of the truth.
This Doctor Hao seemed to have unusual feelings toward Senior Sister Lin.
Doctor Hao pushed Jiang Li further into the large room, moving eight or nine meters ahead.
In the very center of the room, amidst the sea of flowers, there was an Ice Coffin.
Inside lay a woman-it was Doctor Lin.
Doctor Lin herself was the massive Pollution Source hidden within Floor 0.
All the black mist on Floor 0 was emanating from Doctor Lin.
“Senior Sister Lin died three years ago. I killed her with my own hands.”
Doctor Hao explained in a flat tone.
His voice sounded as if he were recounting some trivial event.
“Three years ago, Senior Sister Lin did everything she could to stop the Dean from engaging in organ trafficking and was stabbed by the Dean.
Although I managed to save her, Senior Sister Lin’s spirit was badly damaged.
She went insane. Watching the other patients die tragically one by one, she suffered every day.
She wanted me to end her life… I agreed.”
Doctor Hao recounted these past events in detail.
Jiang Li, however, thought of the S Rank clearance requirement for the Instance:
[Prove you are normal and let Doctor Lin take you out.]
In other words, three years ago, the S Rank clearance method was viable.
Because Doctor Lin still had a shred of kindness in her heart.
But now, Doctor Lin is dead, so this clearance condition can no longer be fulfilled.
Doctor Hao looked at the woman in the Ice Coffin with a complicated expression and said to Jiang Li:
“Do you know? Today, when I left for the Emergency Room to operate on Number 22, the green Surgical Gown you wore belonged to Doctor Lin.”
Jiang Li was stunned for a moment.
No wonder that Surgical Gown fit a woman’s figure so well-it really should have belonged to a female doctor.
But if Doctor Hao had already noticed, why didn’t he expose her at the time?
Jiang Li looked at Doctor Hao in confusion.
