Jiang Li glanced at her Pocket Watch.

The current time was 6:08 a.m.

After leaving, Jiang Li would still need to spend some time finding a nearby hospital to confirm her workplace.

To ensure she could arrive at the hospital before 8 o’clock, Jiang Li had better send this Red-dressed Woman home before 6:30.

Jiang Li turned her head, “Are you sure you live in this building?”

The Red-dressed Woman shook her head in distress, “I don’t know.”

“Do you remember your family?”

“No.”

“What do you know?”

“I know nothing.”

Jiang Li was momentarily speechless: “……”

This woman really was a big trouble, knowing nothing at all.

Jiang Li thought for a moment.

She didn’t leave the elevator, but directly pressed the “Guard Bell” inside.

[There is a Guard Room downstairs. If you encounter difficulties in the building, you can ask the guard for help.]

“Ring ring ring ring! Ring ring ring ring…”

Soon, the bell was answered.

“Hello, this is the Guard Room. What’s the matter?”

On the other end of the call, a middle-aged man’s voice sounded.

Jiang Li quickly spoke, “Hello, I’ve encountered some difficulties. Please come over as soon as possible.”

The man on the other side paused, and there was a sound like chewing and swallowing.

Jiang Li waited a few seconds before the man spoke.

His tone was impatient, “Alright, alright, I got it. I’ll be there soon.”

Before the call was hung up, there was a sound like a cup shattering from the other side.

“Crash!”

“Tsk, be careful! You startled me!”

“Sorry, sorry, Brother Wang, is your foot alright? I’m really sorry.”

“Sigh, forget it. Just be careful next time, so careless…”

“Beep-beep-beep-” The call was disconnected.

Jiang Li, together with the Red-dressed Woman, waited in the elevator on the first floor.

The Guard Room was just downstairs, so the guard arrived at the elevator door in less than a minute.

“What’s wrong? What difficulty did you encounter?” A tall man in uniform stepped forward to ask Jiang Li.

Jiang Li glanced at the man’s feet.

He was wearing a pair of brand-new black high-top leather boots, with several scratches from glass shards on them.

Jiang Li’s eyes grew cold. She pressed her lips together and didn’t reply.

“Speak! What’s the difficulty? Did you call me over just to mess with me?!!”

The man was immediately a bit exasperated.

Jiang Li still ignored him.

“Are you going to speak or not? If not, I’m leaving!” The man glared at her angrily.

Jiang Li pretended not to see, acting mute.

“Hmph. If you call me again next time, I won’t come! What kind of person…”

The middle-aged man shook his head and left angrily.

Red Infant looked surprised, “Mommy, why didn’t you talk to him? I feel like he’s the guard.”

Jiang Li concluded, “He’s not.”

“Why?” Red Infant was puzzled. “The scratches on his shoes match, and his personality matches too.”

“Red Infant, do you remember what the other person said to ‘Brother Wang’ after the cup shattered during the call?”

Red Infant scratched his head, “He said, sorry, sorry, Brother Wang, is your foot alright? I’m really sorry.”

“Is there anything wrong with that?” Red Infant didn’t see any problem.

All the details matched.

Jiang Li said, “Of course there’s a problem. Foot and shoe are two different things.”

“If someone scratched your new leather shoes, do you think they’d ask about your foot first, or your shoes?”

Red Infant answered quickly, “Shoes! You’d definitely have to pay for that.”

“Smart.” Jiang Li smiled.

“So the guard we spoke to on the phone definitely wasn’t him.” Red Infant made the same deduction.

This fake guard who came, even imitated the details so well-he must have been following them for quite a while.

Jiang Li recalled the eighth rule of the Corridor Rules:

[There is a stalker in the building. No matter what he says, do not respond to him.]
This was the reason why Jiang Li had remained silent just now.

That man was a stalker!

Not long after.

The real security guard, Brother Wang, shuffled over in slippers, the sound of “pa-da pa-da” echoing as he walked, and pressed the elevator button.

Brother Wang had thick eyebrows and big eyes, looking fierce and intimidating-he seemed even less trustworthy than the stalker from before.

His toe was scraped, bleeding a little.

“Speak up. What trouble did you run into?” Brother Wang asked in a gruff tone.

Judging from Brother Wang’s line of sight, he probably couldn’t see the Red-dressed Woman.

“Brother Wang, did a woman die in the building recently? Can you take me there?” Jiang Li asked directly.

Brother Wang’s eyes widened. “What do you want to go there for? That’s bad luck!”

Despite his words, Brother Wang was upright in action.

Though he complained, he still swiped his Employee Card with a “beep.”

“Ding. ‘Administrator Mode’ activated. Please operate the elevator according to the ‘Administrator Manual.'”

Brother Wang strode in and pressed the button for the 7th floor.

Jiang Li was momentarily surprised-the elevator didn’t give an overload warning.

“Current floor: First floor. Elevator ascending, please be careful.” The elevator’s voice broadcast sounded inside.

Brother Wang and Jiang Li stood side by side in the elevator, with the Red-dressed Woman obediently following behind.

Brother Wang glanced at Jiang Li’s outfit and couldn’t help but strike up a conversation:

“Is this getup something young people play with-‘kao shenme pu lei’ or whatever? Looks pretty bloody.”

Faced with Brother Wang’s teasing, Jiang Li gave a polite smile.

It seemed Brother Wang was at least normal enough to notice that Jiang Li’s Nurse Uniform was tattered and stained with blood.

“Are you going to the crime scene to play detective?” Brother Wang joked.

Jiang Li casually made up an excuse. “No. A friend wants to buy a cheap apartment and asked me to show him around.”

Brother Wang snorted. “Your friend, tsk tsk, is quite something.”

“Ding-dong-” The elevator arrived.

Brother Wang led Jiang Li out, with the Red-dressed Woman following closely behind.

The three of them stopped in front of a door sealed with tape.

“There, this is the place.” Brother Wang pointed at the door. “I’ve brought you here.”

Jiang Li looked at the Red-dressed Woman and signaled with her eyes.

The Red-dressed Woman gave a grateful smile, said “thank you,” and drifted through the door.

When Brother Wang turned back, Jiang Li smiled and thanked him:

“Got it, thank you, Brother Wang. I’ll bring my friend next time.”

Brother Wang waved it off indifferently and strolled back to the elevator.

The elevator buttons, which had disappeared, reappeared after Brother Wang swiped his Employee Card with a “beep.”

The two entered one after the other.

“By the way, Brother Wang, do you know if there’s a hospital nearby?” Jiang Li asked.

Once she left the residential complex, Jiang Li needed to find her workplace.

Since Brother Wang was still around and easy to talk to, Jiang Li quickly asked.

Brother Wang answered without hesitation:

“There are only two hospitals in Hui City.

Go straight after leaving the complex, and at the first intersection, there’s the ‘Red Cross Hospital.’

Go another two kilometers, turn right and keep going straight, and at the end you’ll find ‘Hui City People’s Hospital.'”

Jiang Li hadn’t expected there to be two hospitals here, and she frowned slightly.

“Alright, got it. Thank you, Brother Wang.” After Jiang Li thanked him politely, the elevator reached the first floor.

She followed Brother Wang out.

After a brief farewell, Brother Wang strolled leisurely back to the Guard Room.

Jiang Li left the residential complex alone, embarking on her uncertain journey to work.

She had to sign in at her workplace before eight in the morning.

Two hospitals, one choice.

Jiang Li glanced down at her Pocket Watch.

Current time: 6:30 a.m.

Jiang Li looked up.

At this moment, dawn was just breaking.

On the cold and empty street, only a few pedestrians wandered by occasionally.

Jiang Li took a few breaths of the chilly morning air, then stepped onto the deserted street.
