Pursuing Zhou Tingshen was the boldest thing I did in my teenage years.

He was always at the top of his class, handsome, and the kind of person you didn’t need any special reason to fall for.

I never tried to hide my feelings for him. One weekend, I confessed to him.

Back then, Zhou Tingshen said, “If we get into the same university, then we can talk about it.”

Really, that was already a tactful rejection.

But he probably didn’t expect that I would actually manage it.

At the time, I wanted so badly to get into the same university as Zhou Tingshen that I studied day and night, forgetting to eat and sleep.

My grades shot all the way up, and I became the biggest dark horse in the class.

When the admission results came out, I got lucky and barely made the cutoff.

Once I started university, I began pursuing Zhou Tingshen again. Finally, two months later, he accepted my confession and became my boyfriend.

Zhou Tingshen was reserved. He never held my hand on campus, and even over text, I was usually the one putting in more effort.

But I really did like him. I even liked that cold, distant air about him.

Feelings are supposed to go both ways, and I thought he liked me too.

Recently, I’d been busy with a group project. The moment I finally had some free time, I quietly went to find him.

I had Zhou Tingshen’s class schedule and knew exactly when his classes were, so I went early to the classroom where he was supposed to be, hoping to surprise him.

What I didn’t expect was that Zhou Tingshen had arrived even earlier.

There were only a few people in the classroom, all of them guys, and sitting next to Zhou Tingshen was his roommate.

“Tingshen, why does that old classmate of yours keep coming to see you? Don’t tell me you two are dating?”

“Isn’t that gorgeous Du Xuanning chasing after you? I thought you two were the ones together.”

The classroom door was half open, and my hand, just about to push it open, froze.

At first, when I came to see Zhou Tingshen, I really did use being an “old classmate” as my reason. But now we had already been together for over a month.

I was lost in my thoughts for a long while when I heard Zhou Tingshen answer with two brief words: “We’re not dating.”

“That’s what I thought. How could Four-Eyes compare to Du Xuanning? Forget everything else-just being seen with her would be more impressive…”

There were plenty of people who wore glasses, but Zhou Tingshen didn’t refute his roommate. It was as if he hadn’t even heard the contempt in his words.

My heart turned completely cold.

That day, I never showed myself to Zhou Tingshen. And for the next two days, I didn’t take the initiative to message him either.

When I went back and looked through our chat history, most of the time it was me sharing things with him, while Zhou Tingshen only replied to each of my messages with a few curt words.

His social media posts were clean too, with no sign that he was in a relationship.

And when I’d wanted to make our relationship public with a post, he said he wasn’t used to showing off his relationship.

Looking back now, maybe it was simply because he didn’t like me enough-or maybe he even felt that I wasn’t good enough for him.
