Chapter 2
Gu Yunzhou gave me an I-knew-it look.
“You keep insisting you don’t want to be my concubine, yet now you want to stay at my side. Are you scheming to become my cultivation partner?”
My brows knotted. In all these months, I hadn’t noticed anything wrong with his hearing.
“I said I want to cultivate.”
The woman sneered. “Very few people in this world have spiritual roots. Who can’t see through your filthy little schemes? Dream on if you think you can become Senior Brother’s cultivation partner.”
Gu Yunzhou seemed to be in a slightly better mood. “I know you are devoted to me, but we are worlds apart. Stop entertaining such fantasies.”
“I don’t care. I want to cultivate.”
I pointed at him. “If you want to repay me for saving your life, take me to your sect. Otherwise I’ll bash my head in right here, and you can owe me for the rest of your life.”
Cultivators took karmic debts seriously. Until he repaid me, Gu Yunzhou’s cultivation couldn’t advance.
He still insisted I had no spiritual roots.
I didn’t believe him.
I thought I was the heroine of a storybook.
My parents had treasured me since I was little.
When I grew up and wanted a husband to marry into our family, I promptly found Gu Yunzhou by the river.
His clothes had been in tatters, but he had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a straight, high nose.
One look told you he was nothing like the men in our village.
His skin was a little rough. It hadn’t stopped me feeling him up five or six times.
Only now, thinking back on how I’d been running my hands all over an eighty-year-old man, I felt faintly sick.
Unable to wear me down, Gu Yunzhou agreed to take me to the sect.
My parents gave my clothes a little tug. I understood at once.
“Bring my parents too, or I’ll bash my head against the wall.”
Mom pointed toward the backyard.
“And our five old sows.”
“Enough!” Gu Yunzhou snapped.
“The wall!”
In the end, Gu Yunzhou and his companions waited a full six hours.
My parents packed five bundles the size of little mountains and strapped them onto the five sows.
Boarding the flying ship, Gu Yunzhou tripped over a fallen iron wok, then stepped in pig manure.
“Vulgar! Vulgar!” he shouted.
I was too happy about going to the cultivation world to bother with him.
Cultivation! Eternal youth! Immortality!
No amount of gold or silver could buy that.
At eighty, Gu Yunzhou looked twenty. He could still chase young girls.
If I could be as beautiful at eighty as I was now, Erya would die of envy.
Then I’d marry a handsome eighteen-year-old. Who wouldn’t call us a match made in heaven?
I was drooling with delight, already imagining a few sweet young husbands clustered around me.
We traveled for three days, during which I learned a little about the Qingyun Sect.
Gu Yunzhou was the sect leader’s disciple and had reached the Golden Core stage. He had been injured after falling into a demonic trap.
The female cultivator was Lin Xunzhen. She had been in love with him for years and was at the Foundation Establishment stage herself.
When I tried to find out more, the disciple I was questioning lowered his voice. “Does Senior Brother Gu really have calluses on his butt? From rubbing it on things?”
I was about to answer when I caught sight of Gu Yunzhou out of the corner of my eye.
I shook my head. “Ahem. Can’t say. Can’t say.”
I wasn’t stupid. Back home, I’d dared offend him because I had saved his life.
Once we reached the sect, I’d be better off keeping a low profile.
The disciple looked enlightened.
The next time I saw him, he was shaking his head as he told someone, “I hear Senior Brother Gu likes grinding his backside from side to side like this.”
