Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Before that, Ning Hanzhou organized a party.
There were quite a few unfamiliar new faces at the party.
The moment I stepped into the place, I had the illusion that I had walked into a full-on face-card lineup.
Every man there was around 180 centimeters tall, with broad shoulders and narrow waists. Their outfits either showed off their chests or exposed their arms and legs.
There were younger ones and mature ones alike.
It gave me the distinct impression that I had entered a banquet where I was supposed to select concubines.
Ning Hanzhou had also brought in a few women to liven up the atmosphere, though they were dressed much more conservatively.
Just looking around without doing anything was already a feast for the eyes.
I asked Ning Hanzhou, “Is this a proper occasion?”
I was an honest woman from the countryside. I could not withstand this kind of temptation.
Ning Hanzhou gave off the feeling that he did not take any of these people seriously.
He smiled and said, “They’re all new friends I met recently. If there’s anyone you like, I can introduce you.”
That was what he said, but the hand he had on the sofa had already tightened into a fist.
I really did not understand what was going on in his head. If he liked me, he refused to admit it when asked, and he was even willing to recommend new men to me.
If he did not like me, then why did he go to all this trouble to befriend a bunch of pretty faces he looked down on, train them into the type I liked, and then send them to my side?
What kind of brain circuit was that?
If this were ancient times, he would be the legal wife taking the initiative to recruit a male concubine for me in order to secure his own favor.
I looked around and said, “Why are you in such a hurry to introduce me to someone new? Isn’t Jiang Zhiyan your buddy? I broke up with him, and you’re not taking his side?”
Ning Hanzhou said, “Then it must be his fault. I’ve been friends with you for so many years. I know what you’re like.”
“Jiang Zhiyan is spoiled and willful. He isn’t suited to staying by someone’s side long-term.”
From the look of it, Ning Hanzhou had been unhappy with Jiang Zhiyan for a long time.
If Jiang Zhiyan had not been his buddy, if he had not had any particular status, Ning Hanzhou could have handled him however he wanted.
Just like those pretty men I had been interested in before.
Even if they were unwilling to leave after being dumped, Ning Hanzhou could always use a few methods to drive them away.
But Jiang Zhiyan was difficult to deal with.
Ning Hanzhou had schemed to get him together with me, but Jiang Zhiyan had a terrible temper, did not know how to serve anyone, was intensely possessive, and even expected me to coax him instead.
Ning Hanzhou had wanted someone like that dead a long time ago.
And what made him the most jealous was that trash like him had actually managed to stay by my side for so long.
Before we broke up, Ning Hanzhou had always been worried that Jiang Zhiyan might be lucky enough to actually make it to the end with me.
Fortunately, that thing was useless all on its own.
Good riddance!
I saw the comments saying Ning Hanzhou would make a copy of the surveillance footage from the venue, take it home, and record the amount of time my gaze lingered on each man, down to the second.
After the party ended, I ran into someone unexpected downstairs.
It was Jiang Zhiyan.
There was a girl with him.
[The Female Lead makes her dazzling entrance! Is my ship finally going to sail?]
[As expected of the official couple. The Male Lead is obviously different when he’s with the Female Lead than when he’s with the Female Supporting Character. He looks much more like the aloof flower from the original novel.]
[The Female Lead finally appeared to save the Male Lead. Earlier, it felt like the Male Lead was about to be driven insane by the Female Supporting Character and the Male Supporting Character.]
[Hurry up and fast-forward to the Male Lead and Female Lead falling in love, then write this gold-digging, vain Female Supporting Character out of the story.]
Seeing the comments explode, I knew she was the Female Lead.
Jiang Zhiyan saw me. He strode over.
With a cold laugh, he said, “I saw the photos someone posted on Moments. You just broke up with me and you’re already attending this kind of immoral party.”
“Qian Yunuo, are you trying to line up the next one without any gap at all?”
This dog remembered the next day that the villa belonged to him.
He had actually changed the passcode, erased my fingerprint, and refused to let me in.
He was determined to make me lower my head and coax him.
Very sadly, I left the villa I had loved so much.
I said goodbye to the dogs inside.
Fortune turns with time. When I make it big in the future, I am going to buy it from Jiang Zhiyan. After all, I really do love the interior design.
I said, “You knew we’d broken up, yet you didn’t take a detour when you saw me. Did you come up here to beg me to get back together?”
Jiang Zhiyan’s face turned livid with anger. “Who do you think you are, some irresistible heartthrob? What part of you is worth me pining over after a breakup? There isn’t a second person in this world worse than you.”
As he spoke, his expression suddenly changed.
With a hint of smugness, he said, “You went back to the villa before, didn’t you? I changed the passcode ages ago. If you’re willing to lower your head and apologize to me, then promise me you won’t do that again, I can…”
I cut him off. “Won’t do what again? Tie you up and force myself on you?”
The Female Lead beside him widened her eyes and stared at Jiang Zhiyan in shock. She could not help taking two steps back, putting some distance between them.
The comments exploded.
Anything that made the comments and Jiang Zhiyan unhappy, I did casually.
Jiang Zhiyan turned red with anger again.
His skin was fair and his eyes were moist, and even when he was angry, he had a certain charm.
I gave a whistle, somewhat provocatively.
Then I said, “Why didn’t you get angry more often when we were dating? I never knew you looked this cute when you were mad.”
Jiang Zhiyan’s face grew even redder. I could not tell whether it was from anger or embarrassment.
A horn sounded behind him.
Ning Hanzhou had returned with the car.
Without the slightest hesitation, I walked past Jiang Zhiyan and got into the passenger seat of Ning Hanzhou’s car.
Jiang Zhiyan was just about to call out to Ning Hanzhou.
Then he saw his good buddy, the same one who had threatened him with his life and told him not to break up with me,
glance at him lightly before driving away expressionlessly, as if afraid Jiang Zhiyan would catch up if he was even one step too slow.
Jiang Zhiyan looked completely baffled.
How had he become a different person in just a few days?
Besides, even if Jiang Zhiyan had broken up with me, weren’t they still buddies?
