“But he made a mistake,” Lilith said in distress. “People who make mistakes must be punished. That’s what Mother told me.”

“Of course,” Tu Nan replied softly. “But I think he just forgot about the Rule for a moment. It’s not a crime deserving death… We can give him a small punishment, like not allowing him to have lunch.”

Rose gave Tu Nan a grateful look.

Lilith thought for a moment. “Alright, if your answer satisfies me, I’ll punish him by forbidding him from having lunch and dinner.”

She giggled, her laughter crisp and clear. “But if your answer doesn’t satisfy me, you’ll be punished together with him.”

Fu Zhixing glanced at her when he heard this.

Tu Nan’s heart tightened. She hadn’t expected Lilith to say such a thing.

In fact, Lilith didn’t care much about Jack’s life or death. She said this only to test a suspicion of her own.

But now, the arrow was already on the string and had to be released.

She took a deep breath and began, “If they don’t eat, the sheep will indeed starve to death. But Miss Lilith, do you think it’s better to die according to one’s own will, or to live on according to someone else’s will?”

Upon hearing this, Lilith’s eyes widened, and her breathing suddenly became rapid.

“Who allowed you to spout nonsense in front of Miss Lilith?” George suddenly shouted angrily. “Someone, drag her out.”

The two who had been holding Jack released his limp body and came straight to Tu Nan, grabbing her.

She didn’t understand why George became so furious after hearing those words. Wasn’t his reaction a bit excessive?

The Manservant forcefully bound her hands and began dragging her out.

“Wait.” Fu Zhixing stood up and said coldly, “She didn’t break any Rules. Why are you taking her away?”

George’s face was red with anger. “Say one more word, and you’ll go to hell with her.”

Tu Nan had already been dragged to the door.

“Wait,” Lilith suddenly said in a low voice.

The Manservant’s steps halted.

“Miss,” George said anxiously, “You can’t be soft-hearted toward someone so glib-tongued. She must be a demon.”

“Bring her to me,” Lilith lifted her head, her face a bit pale but her tone firm.

She was the true master of the Manor. The Manservant dared not disobey her and brought Tu Nan back.

Having walked to the gates of hell and back, Tu Nan’s heart was pounding wildly, her face ashen.

“What you just said was interesting. Continue,” Lilith looked at her and said softly.

“Miss!” George was a bit anxious now.

“No one is allowed to speak of anything that happened in this Dining Room today.”

Lilith looked like a cute little girl on the surface, but at this moment she was full of presence. Her gaze swept over everyone present, finally landing on Tu Nan.

“Continue.”

Tang Yuan, sitting in the corner, revealed a knowing smile.

Tu Nan was still shaken, but she dared not refuse.

“Miss Lilith is a kind-hearted girl. You have so much compassion for animals and fear that they will go hungry. But sometimes, what you give them may not be what they truly want.”

The Dining Room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Lilith blinked in confusion. “But… but I’m doing it for their own good… Without me, they would all starve to death…”

She muttered to herself, “Was I wrong?”

George glared fiercely at Tu Nan and lowered his voice. “Miss Lilith, of course you are not wrong. The one at fault is this arrogant Woman.”
Lilith did not speak.

When she was silent, no one in the room dared to speak.

Lilith unconsciously stroked Xiao Bai’s head. Xiao Bai seemed a little bored, meowed once, jumped out of Lilith’s arms, and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Lilith woke as if from a dream.

“Catch Xiao Bai, quickly,” she said urgently.

But the Cat was too fast; no human could keep up. In just a few breaths, Xiao Bai had vanished without a trace.

Lilith was frantic, but because of her legs, she couldn’t chase after it herself.

“Hurry, all of you, go and bring Xiao Bai back!”

She spoke anxiously.

All the Maids and Manservants in the Dining Room sprang into action, rushing out to catch Xiao Bai.

George still stood where he was, his eyes fixed gloomily on Tu Nan, as if he wished he could tear her to pieces.

“You’re right,” after a long while, Lilith said, lost and forlorn. “According to our previous agreement, this man doesn’t have to die.”

Rose burst into tears of joy.

The relief of surviving made Jack collapse to the floor, gasping for breath.

Qin frowned and glanced at him.

“But my Xiao Bai ran away.” Lilith looked at everyone present and spoke coldly, “You are all responsible for this.”

“If my Xiao Bai isn’t found, I’ll kill every one of you.” she said angrily.

George gave a cold smile, bent down, and gently comforted Lilith, pushing her out of the Dining Room.

Once Lilith was gone, Jack leaned against the wall and stood up, pointing at Tu Nan, “It’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, Lilith’s Cat wouldn’t have run away.”

His words were so heartless that even Rose couldn’t bear to listen.

“Jack, how can you say that? Miss Lita just saved you,” she said, frowning.

Alan chuckled, “I suppose Miss Lita must regret that decision now?”

Tu Nan shot Jack a cold look.

Jack, embarrassed and angry, retorted stubbornly, “So what? I didn’t ask her to save me.”

Getting angry over someone so unworthy wasn’t her style. Tu Nan returned to the table, cut a piece of steak, and began to eat.

“You’re awfully calm,” Tang Yuan said with a smile, her tone somewhat admiring. “At a time like this, you still have the appetite to eat?”

“Whatever happens, you have to be well-fed first,” Tu Nan glanced at her. “Aren’t you worried?”

“I told you, I’m not a Player in this Instance. Her punishment can’t touch me.” Tang Yuan took a slow sip of soup. “Since I rather like you, if you’re still alive tomorrow morning, I can offer you a position at our hospital.”

Tu Nan looked at her in surprise. Before she could ask what use the offer was, Tang Yuan had already stood up, blew a kiss elegantly to everyone present, and turned to leave.

A strange Woman.

Tu Nan couldn’t help but think to herself.

“What did she say to you?” Fu Zhixing walked over and sat down beside her.

Tu Nan tore off a piece of bread, dipped it in the meat juice on her plate, and popped it into her mouth.

“She said if I survive until tomorrow morning, she’ll give me a hospital offer.” She swallowed the bread before speaking in a low voice.

Fu Zhixing actually looked surprised. “She really said that?”

Seeing his unusual expression, Tu Nan guessed Fu Zhixing must know something and couldn’t help but ask, “Do you know what it means?”
