Seventh Master explained that, as a professional Spirit Medium, Xiao Qing naturally carries a heavy Yin energy.

On top of that, her lifespan is short, making her an excellent vessel for Yin Crossing. She might be able to capture some memories from Ghosts.

But such cases are rare.

I was extremely excited and hurriedly asked Xiao Qing what she had seen.

What does the person who killed Li Xiumei actually look like?

“He has a square face, about thirty years old, and a large mole on his right earlobe.”

Xiao Qing said these were the features of the person who killed Li Xiumei; these were all she could see.

Besides that, when Li Xiumei was murdered, there was also a little girl about five or six years old present. That little girl witnessed the entire process.

Meng Yifan and I felt chills down our spines.

When Li Xiumei was killed, her tongue was cut out and her mouth filled with cement.

The murderer actually made a child watch the whole thing.

Damn!

Is this guy a psychopath?

“Master Xiao Qing, can you see if this is the girl?”

I quickly took out the photo and showed it to Xiao Qing for identification.

But the photo was too blurry, and Xiao Qing couldn’t recognize it. She shook her head and said, “I can’t be sure, but it looks a bit like her.”

Although she couldn’t identify her, I already had a rough idea in my mind.

I took a deep breath and said, “Li Xiumei was killed by Lv Zhengxian. When Lv Zhengxian killed her, that little girl was present, watching. Li Xiumei’s death seems to be related to that little girl…”

What kind of feelings does Lv Zhengxian have for this girl?

He was willing to cruelly murder his own wife for her.

But if he really cared about this girl, why would he let her witness such a terrifying scene at such a young age?

I racked my brains, using all my knowledge, but I couldn’t explain Lv Zhengxian’s twisted mind.

Meng Yifan said, “What I find most absurd is, why did Li Xiumei and Lv Zhengxian kill that whole family? Was it just for the rent?”

“And if Li Xiumei was the mastermind, what kind of madness would drive a woman to kill an entire family, not even sparing a little girl?”

Their reason for committing the Massacre Case really doesn’t make sense.

But the idea that Li Xiumei was the mastermind behind the Massacre Case is just my speculation; I’m not sure if I’m right.

No matter how you look at it, killing a whole family over rent just doesn’t hold up.

There seems to be more to the Massacre Case than meets the eye.

“Seventh Master, what do you think?”

Although we hadn’t known each other long, I was deeply impressed by this old hand’s wisdom.

He was well-traveled and knowledgeable, surely he understood more than we did.

But Seventh Master just glanced at me and said gruffly, “I’ve got a concussion, what do you expect me to think? Besides, I’m not involved in these two cases, I know less than you do, why do you always like to ask me?”

After that, he added, “But the person who knocked me out tonight probably wasn’t Lv Zhengxian. If he was Lv Zhengxian, how would he know we were going to do Soul Summoning tonight? Unless Lv Zhengxian is right beside you, and knows exactly what you’re up to.”

I was shocked to hear this.

If that’s true, it’s really terrifying.

But in the past two days, Meng Yifan and I hadn’t interacted with anyone except Seventh Master, Brother Liu, and when I went home to see my dad and grandpa.

Seventh Master and Brother Liu couldn’t be Lv Zhengxian-the ages don’t match at all.

As for my dad and grandpa, my grandpa is way too old to be Lv Zhengxian, so that only leaves my dad.

But just now, Xiao Qing also proved my dad’s innocence. She said Lv Zhengxian has a square face and a large mole on his right earlobe.
My dad doesn’t have a square face, nor does he have a mole on his earlobe, so my dad isn’t Lv Zhengxian, and he has nothing to do with Li Xiumei’s death.

“That’s strange. None of us have ever come into contact with Lv Zhengxian.”

Meng Yifan said, “But tonight, this person-if he isn’t Lv Zhengxian, why did he come to disrupt the Soul Summoning ritual?”

Seventh Master frowned and said, “He must be connected to either Lv Zhengxian or Li Xiumei. Plus, he knows that Li Xiumei’s body has already been found by the police. He’s afraid the truth will come out and implicate him.”

“And this person definitely knows a thing or two. You can tell from how he sabotaged the Soul Summoning Array.”

I was a bit puzzled. “He was hiding in there. Wasn’t he afraid Li Xiumei’s Ghost would catch him red-handed?”

Seventh Master explained, “If I’m not mistaken, he probably stuck a Talisman Paper for warding off evil under the bed. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare hide there. And that Talisman Paper is most likely still stuck under the bed.”

After hearing Seventh Master’s words, I thought Meng Yifan and I might have to go back again.

First, I wanted to verify what Seventh Master said-whether there was a Talisman Paper under the bed.

Second, we needed to clean up the things left in the living room. If the police found out, we’d have a hard time explaining.

“Li Xiumei has only given you seven days.”

Seventh Master reminded us, “Within seven days, you either find Lv Zhengxian or uncover the whole truth. Otherwise, you two will have to go down and keep her company.”

I felt terrible.

I was just working a normal job, and suddenly I got caught up in this mess.

Where am I supposed to find Lv Zhengxian?

Investigate the truth-am I more professional than the police?

Meng Yifan wasn’t scared anymore; his intelligence seemed to be back online. He said, “There are so many people in the world, even the police can’t find Lv Zhengxian. It’s almost impossible for us to find him. But what about that little girl?”

“That girl was raised by Lv Zhengxian, and now she’s mysteriously dead. If we investigate the cause of her death, maybe we can follow the clues and find a lead on Lv Zhengxian?”

I completely agreed with Meng Yifan’s suggestion.

Seventh Master nodded as well. “That girl must have died within the past year, because a Ghost always looks the way it did at the time of death. She definitely died within this year.”

That made things much easier.

We could ask Brother Liu for help and have him check for young girls who died in the past year.

Before she died, this girl might have still been in college, which would narrow things down even more.

As long as we figured out her identity, we could track Lv Zhengxian’s movements over the past few years.

There were still three or four hours until dawn.

Meng Yifan and I slept for a while at the hospital.

After sunrise, the two of us left the hospital and drove back to that neighborhood.

When we got back to the apartment, we first checked under the bed in the master bedroom.

Seventh Master really was spot-on. In the end, we actually found a Talisman Paper under the bed.

But we couldn’t recognize the Talisman Paper, so we took a photo and sent it to Seventh Master.

“This Talisman is called a Yin Gathering Talisman. It’s not used by decent people. It works in reverse, using Yin energy to mask one’s Yang energy, so Ghosts can’t detect their presence. Someone who can draw this kind of Talisman doesn’t just know a little about the craft-they must be well-versed in metaphysics.”

“Also, anyone who uses this Talisman will feel physically weak for a few days. Only when their Yang energy recovers will their body return to normal.”

On the phone, Seventh Master explained the purpose of the Talisman and sighed, “Anyone who knows how to use this Talisman is definitely not someone to mess with. You two have hit the jackpot.”
