My younger sister and I are quick transmigrators.

I belong to the Strong Female Lead Division. She belongs to the Sweet Romance Division.

One day, we get into a bitter argument over how villains ought to be handled.

My sister thinks villains have tragic pasts and miserable lives, so she wants to redeem them and guide them back to the light. Besides, aren’t villains supposed to be devoted and faithful, the sort who would “betray the world but never betray their beloved”? Maybe she can latch on to a villain, bask in the love he reserves for her alone, and become the ultimate winner in life!

I, on the other hand, can’t understand why anyone would redeem a total stranger. Wouldn’t that time and energy be better spent building a career and making yourself stronger? And if he is destined to wipe out your whole family once he comes into his power, you should grab an AK and gun him down before that happens. Problem solved forever!

When my sister hears that I would shoot the villain, she frowns in disapproval. “Sis, that’s too cruel. Villains aren’t born cold and heartless. No one ever cherished them, cared for them, or guided them down the right path. Their childhoods were already tragic enough. Everyone bullied and humiliated them, and instead of showing a shred of sympathy or compassion, you want to kill them! How can I have such a selfish, heartless sister?!”

I fire right back. “I didn’t cause his miserable childhood, and I wasn’t the one who bullied him. Why should I sacrifice my whole life to redeem and reform him? There’s a reason villains are called villains. Why don’t you look them up on the interstellar network? They’re depraved, deranged monsters who treat human lives like ants beneath their feet.

“They’re temperamental, obsessive, and cold-blooded. How can you guarantee that you’ll actually reform him? With your life? You’ve done so many sweet-romance missions that your brain must be full of crap!”

We part on terrible terms.

“If you want to prove whose idea is right, why not put them both to the test?”

The heroine from the Immortal Cultivation Division perks up, her eyes shining with interest. “The sub-worlds have plenty of parallel planes like that. You could each enter one—same world, same starting point—and see who is still smiling at the end. Opening each plane would only cost a thousand points. That’s not too bad.”

Xiao Muyao from the Interstellar Division happens to pass by with a laser cannon over her shoulder. She has naturally heard our whole argument. In an amused voice, she says, “If you really plan to brave those planes, I have two communicators you can keep in your seas of consciousness. You can switch them on and off with a thought. They’ll let each of you watch what happens in the other’s world and see how her choices turn out. But to keep things fair, I’ll place a restriction on them. The feed will shut off automatically if either of you tries to speak to or interfere with the other.”

The heroine from the Historical Romance Division clasps her hands together, her lively eyes darting between us. “That sounds fun.”

I give my sister a meaningful look. “Want to try?”

She snorts. “Fine. Just wait and see how I redeem the villain, win his exclusive devotion, and prove you wrong!”

The other heroines grow excited. “Can we watch what you do on the big screen?”

Me: “Whatever.”

My sister casts me a scornful glance. “Of course! Just wait until you see me redeem the villain and become the ultimate winner!”

The heroine from the Immortal Cultivation Division says, “All right. We’ll open an immortal-cultivation plane as a warm-up. Who else could be the greatest villain there but the Demon Lord? We’re looking forward to your performances!”
