“Aren’t you leaving yet?”
Someone tapped on the desk.
I jumped, startled, and hurriedly closed the chat window.
I looked up to see Xu Fang.
Xu Fang stared at me blankly. “What are you doing? How did I scare you that much?”
I let out a breath. “Nothing. You just appeared out of nowhere and caught me off guard.”
Xu Fang laughed. “I didn’t realize you were such a scaredy-cat.”
I forced a smile and laughed along with him.
“Still not leaving?” he asked.
“In a minute,” I replied.
“Alright then, I’m heading out first. See you tomorrow.”
As soon as Xu Fang left, the smile vanished from my face.
I opened his social media app, intending to find Qingqing among his contacts.
But after searching through every single one of his friend groups, I found nothing.
Suddenly, my heart skipped a beat.
The first group-the “Close Friends” list-showed a count of 2/2.
Qingqing was right there.
Listed directly beneath my own profile picture.
My hands went numb.
