Chapter 1
Chapter 1
On the night of our wedding anniversary, my husband and I were lying on the sofa watching *Fifty Shades of Grey*.
The glow of the television reflected off Lu Xuzhou’s handsome face.
The leads were practically naked, yet he remained as steady as a mountain. He only reached out to pull me closer into his arms when he noticed my emotions getting slightly stirred.
“Is it that good?” Lu Xuzhou’s voice was deep, carrying a vibration that seemed to make the very air tremble.
On the screen, the male lead was deftly binding the female lead’s hands with a necktie, easily restraining her with one hand.
My face flushed as I gave a small nod, tucking my chin into the blanket. I wanted him to discover my little thoughts, yet I was terrified he would.
In short, I didn’t dare look Lu Xuzhou in the eye.
“Then keep watching.” He smoothed the stray hairs by my temples and adjusted my head into a more comfortable position.
His embrace was very warm.
Perhaps because he was nearly 190 centimeters tall, holding a woman like me-who barely cleared 165 centimeters-was like holding a large stuffed animal.
Our size difference was such that he could easily control me, molding me however he pleased.
Lu Xuzhou never treated me that way.
…But part of me hoped he would.
We were childhood sweethearts who grew up together. I was still in preschool when I was taken in to live with the Lu family.
He had known since he was a child that he would marry me one day.
He protected me, took care of me, and cleaned up after all my mistakes.
He said it was his innate responsibility.
That was until one time when I went to his company.
He was sitting behind a black desk, a Montblanc pen with a metallic sheen tucked into his breast pocket.
A secretary was reporting recent work blunders to him.
The lips that were always curved in my memory had lost their arc, and his eyes were occupied by a cold sharpness.
He arranged all the remedial measures with thunderous efficiency, analyzing and criticizing every mistake in the work one by one.
I couldn’t hear clearly what he was saying.
I could only hear my heart beating wildly.
“I didn’t scare you that day, did I?”
Out of nowhere, Lu Xuzhou suddenly spoke.
But our years of unspoken understanding let me know he was talking about the day of those work errors.
I shook my head, feeling my lips go a bit dry. “N-no.”
“That’s good.”
Because we were pressed together, I could feel his body relax slightly against mine.
He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead as he explained the reason behind his mood that day.
I had always been a good listener.
But at that moment, I couldn’t help but say, “I thought you were very handsome that day.”
On the TV.
The female lead was taken by the male lead into a red room filled with props, kneeling on the empty floor.
Unlike the flustered female lead, the male lead was perfectly composed, his clothes neat and intact. With a smile playing on his lips, he used his gaze to savor the other’s unease and submission.
I licked my lips. “That day… you were just like the male lead in the movie… very intense.”
“You like that?”
“Mhm…”
I looked at him expectantly. The only light remaining in the room wasn’t enough to see the surge of emotion in his eyes clearly.
He said, “Baby, I don’t want to watch TV anymore.”
…
[What happened next isn’t convenient to say here.]
[It wouldn’t pass the censors.]
After I posted my reply, the netizens who were camping out for a follow-up replied quickly.
[Is there anything my ‘Distinguished Member’ status isn’t allowed to see?]
[Hey, you two should film a video for us to see.]
[If you don’t tell us, it’s hard for us to know if it actually happened! How was he that night? Was he dirty? Was he a daddy?]
My face turned bright red, feeling hot enough to cook an egg.
I typed back somewhat shyly:
[He lasted a long time that night, but he was still very gentle.]
[He kept calling me Baby. When things got intense, he even put his hand between me and the headboard because he was afraid I’d get hurt.]
I tried my best to recall, picking out the parts I could actually share.
[Oh my god, that’s sickeningly sweet.]
[Even so, if he didn’t get the hint after watching *Fifty Shades of Grey*, he’s a lost cause.]
[OP, why don’t you wear some animal ears and get a tail? That’s how I dragged my boyfriend into the deep end. Now, whenever we do *that*, he strokes my head and calls me a good girl.]
“Ah Sui.”
Lu Xuzhou’s sudden appearance nearly scared the soul out of me.
My body went stiff as I slammed the laptop shut. Only then did I turn around, still shaken. “What is it?”
He was wearing a dark blue apron. The steam from the soup he was making hadn’t yet fully dissipated from his gold-rimmed glasses.
His gaze swept over the closed laptop as if by accident, and for a split second, the look behind his lenses deepened.
Lu Xuzhou spoke with his usual gentle tone. “It’s nothing. I’m just calling you for dinner.”
