Chapter 3
As Qi He’s secretary, I was somehow busy every single day!
So busy I barely had time to look at him.
Buddy, what bizarre seduction strategy was this supposed to be?
I couldn’t take it anymore. “Mr. Qi, how much longer until my probation paperwork goes through?”
He looked up from a contract. “A month.”
I groaned. “That long?”
I still had a whole month of being worked like a beast of burden!
Qi He interpreted it differently: [Does she want to be my secretary that badly?]
The faint smile at his lips nearly shut down my brain.
Then his expression darkened just as suddenly:
[Why is the romance progress still at zero?]
He frowned at me.
Ha-ha. Beats me.
Two weeks later, Qi He stared at his unmoving progress and sank into thought.
Suddenly, he asked, “What do you like?”
My mouth answered before my brain could intervene. “Money.”
The air went still.
Shit. What heroine liked money?
I’d finally exposed myself for the broke impostor I was…
His thoughts sounded awed: [What a unique heroine!]
[Nothing like all those other heroines who don’t like money!]
Huh?
That worked too?
Qi He sent me money. A lot of money.
I pointed at him with a trembling finger.
His brow creased:
[Of course. The heroine can’t accept something like this.]
[She’ll only take money she’s earned herself.]
I hastily put on a serene smile. “Could you mark the transfer as a voluntary gift?”
Qi He: “?”
Since I’d only received the money by taking advantage of Chiang Ning,
I thought it over at length and painfully decided to give her a third.
She threw the money in my face, her eyes bright with stubborn, angry tears. “Don’t think you can humiliate me with money!”
“Take your filthy money and get out of my sight!”
Oh my God. Such a classic line!
That was how a heroine was supposed to react!
Thank goodness I wasn’t one.
On second thought, the heroine wouldn’t have wanted Qi He’s money anyway.
So why not give it to me?
All of it!
Squeezing money out of capitalists was everyone’s civic duty.
I felt positively righteous, as though I were serving the people.
Heh-heh.
After the transfer, Qi He kept looking at me more and more strangely:
[The progress still hasn’t moved.]
[Did I not give her enough?]
[Or does she only seem to love money, while actually holding it in contempt?]
Ha-ha.
Keep guessing.
You wouldn’t hear a peep out of me.
The day I passed probation, I let out a long breath of relief.
I was about to resign and tell Qi He the truth.
But as soon as I knocked and entered his office, he handed me a gift box. Inside lay a silver evening gown, lavish yet elegant.
“Put this on. You’re coming with me to the Wang family’s banquet tonight.”
Ha. I was quitting right now!
He could go without me!
I was about to refuse in no uncertain terms when I caught sight of the diamond necklace sparkling beneath the dress.
“Of course, Mr. Qi. I’ll get changed now.”
Qi He: “…”
[So I really didn’t give her enough last time.]

His Heroine by Mistake
Qi He had spent three years trying to win me over, mistaking me for the heroine.
He sent me money, made transfers, and bought me a home.
I accepted it all without batting an eye.
