Chapter 3
Chapter 3
I’m not kidding.
If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I never would have believed it.
Ten years could change a person that much.
I met him when I was three, and we parted ways when I was fifteen.
Back then, he had always looked sickly.
Because he was born premature, he wasn’t tall. He was skinny and frail, the kind of person who looked like a gust of wind could knock him over.
On top of that, he was pretty, with skin so pale it was almost excessive.
He was basically a carbon copy of Lin Daiyu.
The first time I met him was in winter.
Aunt Chen’s family had just moved in next door, and our family finally had neighbors.
My mom carried some gifts and took me over to pay them a visit.
From far away, I saw a beautiful auntie holding the hand of a tiny little dumpling.
The child looked like something carved from pink jade, draped in a fluffy cloak that looked warm at a glance.
Like a little fairy child straight out of a painting.
Without thinking, I blurted out,
“What a pretty little sister.”
The little sister’s tiny body trembled slightly, her expression full of disbelief.
The beautiful auntie couldn’t help laughing.
She said Chen Huaizhi was the same age as me, and had even been born two days before me.
My eyes went wide at once.
Her three years old and my three years old seemed to be very different things.
I was such a big kid.
She was such a tiny kid.
“Auntie, are children really expensive? How come the phone store only gave you such a small one?”
As I spoke, I held up my little fingers to demonstrate.
Once, when I made my mom mad, she told me I’d been a freebie from the phone store when she topped up her phone plan.
The more you topped up, the bigger the kid they gave you.
My mom didn’t even have time to cover my mouth.
All she could do was stand there and laugh awkwardly.
Before the beautiful auntie could say anything, the little sister pulled her hand free.
She lifted her small chin and gave a light snort.
“Idiot. You got tricked. We were obviously picked up from the trash can.”
Me: “???”
Aunt Chen: “…”
My mom: “…”
The two of them looked at each other, then silently turned away and covered their faces.
I had always been very confident in myself.
I was so smart. How could Mom possibly fool me?
So the little sister had to be the one who’d been fooled.
Being the bigger person, I decided not to hold it against her.
I lowered my head and patted her on the head to comfort her.
“It’s okay. You’re still little. It’s normal to get tricked by adults!”
I didn’t know which part of that hit a nerve.
The next second, she pressed her lips together, her eyes turning red as crystal tears clung to her thick lashes.
I panicked.
Then I suddenly remembered how Dad usually coaxed Mom.
I stepped forward and planted a loud kiss on the little sister’s cheek.
She blinked at me in confusion.
Then her mouth puckered, and she burst into loud sobs.
“Waaah! Mommy, she’s harassing me!”
Aunt Chen held back her laughter as she picked her up and coaxed her.
I glanced guiltily at my mom.
She took a deep breath, her cheek twitching.
I silently clutched my little bottom.
It was over.
I was going to get spanked again when we got home. Waaah.

I was forced to go on a blind date.
