Chapter 74
Chapter 74
Because Ning Qiuyan had spent more than a month preparing for this vacation, he knew exactly what they were going to do.
So Guan Heng’s directness did not surprise him.
Beyond the folding screen, a spacious bedroom came into view. The large bed stood in the very center, far from every window. Once night fell, all the curtains had been drawn open, and beyond the glass lay the snow-covered Forest.
Following Guan Heng’s hint, Ning Qiuyan continued inward.
The water temperature in the bathroom was lower than what humans usually preferred. Ning Qiuyan felt a little cold as he washed, and soon began to tremble faintly.
After coming out wrapped in a large bath towel, he took one of Guan Heng’s robes from the nearest wardrobe and put it on. Some warmth returned to his body, but he was still shaking.
Only belatedly did he realize it was because he was too nervous.
He knew that if he showed the slightest sign of not being able to take it, Guan Heng would stop like a gentleman.
It took Ning Qiuyan about half an hour to finally come out of the bathroom.
Guan Heng had already bathed in another bathroom and changed into a different robe. His long hair was tucked behind his ears and fell over his broad shoulders and back, still carrying a trace of dampness.
Hearing Ning Qiuyan approach, Guan Heng turned his head to look at him, but said nothing until Ning Qiuyan had walked right up to him, leaving only a fist’s width of distance between them.
One tilted his head up; the other lowered his slightly. It was a posture of complete trust, one where a kiss could happen at any moment.
They did not begin with a kiss.

The heavy snow lasted until the next morning.
It stopped for only an hour before sweeping in again, blotting out the sky and earth.
Dr. Ling came upstairs once, but only stood at the stairwell, keeping a great distance.
The entire third floor was unlit. In the dimness, he saw Guan Heng walking over from the double doors in a robe.
Guan Heng was stern, his emotions difficult to read, and his clothes were often extremely languid, but Dr. Ling had almost never seen this side of him. Strands of hair clung messily to the side of his neck, his clothes loose, and he faintly exuded the cold, exclusive hormonal aura of the Vampires.
As a doctor, and also out of fondness for that child, Dr. Ling boldly offered a suggestion. “If you are… then please be careful with the dosage. He’s already especially sensitive to your toxins as it is.”
“It won’t be used.” Guan Heng accepted the items with a calm expression. “And there’s no need to worry.”
“Yes.” Dr. Ling smiled and said sincerely, “I’m very glad Xiao Ning has returned to Du Island and become part of Du Island.”
When Guan Heng returned to the room, the human was curled up in the center of the large bed, his pale, slender back like a handful of snow in the sea.
The flames leaping on the floor had never gone out, and the room had remained at a suitable temperature the entire time.
As soon as Guan Heng sat down on the edge of the bed, the person in it woke up.
Opening his eyes and seeing Guan Heng’s face, Ning Qiuyan blushed, then turned over and shrank entirely into the blankets.

Ning Qiuyan was a little dazed about how he had fallen asleep afterward, but he knew the sheets and covers had been changed. They smelled faintly of clean detergent.
The moment he hid himself inside, Guan Heng caught him around the waist and lifted him back out.
Their eyes met, and Guan Heng only said, “Eat something.”
Ning Qiuyan nodded. “I want to eat in bed.”
He even tightened his grip on the blanket, obviously trying to cover something up.
Guan Heng somehow found a small bed tray and actually placed all the food on it for him. Ning Qiuyan was terribly hungry, and only after silently eating halfway through did he ask, “Who came just now?”
“Dr. Ling,” Guan Heng said.
Ning Qiuyan’s eyes widened a little, and he forgot to keep eating. “Why did he come?”
After a whole night had passed, Ning Qiuyan finally realized that everyone knew he had stayed overnight on the third floor.
“To bring food,” Guan Heng replied. “He thought you might be injured and told me to pay attention to the dosage if I used blood on you. He was afraid you might show signs of OD.”
Ning Qiuyan: “…”
He was not injured, nor had he taken Guan Heng’s blood. The reaction he had after using blood last time had been too frightening; he truly did not want to experience it again.
Besides, it seemed as if there had been no possibility of him being injured at all.
Aside from his body being sore and weak, making it a little hard to sit up, even his wrists were clean, without a single mark left behind.
They probably would not be going downstairs anytime soon.
After finishing his food, Ning Qiuyan burrowed back into the blankets. The room was too dark, and he did not actually know the exact time. He only saw Guan Heng walk to the window and pull open the curtains. The gloomy daylight immediately spilled in, stinging his eyes so that he had to close them for a moment.
“Is it still snowing?”
he asked.
“It is.” Guan Heng walked toward the bed while taking off his robe.
Ning Qiuyan could not see everything clearly, but one sweeping glance was enough for him to bury half his face again at once.
The half still exposed, however, was flushed terribly red.

The punishment had ended long ago.
Ning Qiuyan curled his toes, his breath brushing Guan Heng’s chin.
They shared a long kiss. Then Guan Heng turned Ning Qiuyan over, lifted his waist, and pressed him facedown into the pillow.
That large hand pressed heavily against the back of his head. Fingers slid into his hair and slowly tightened.
Only after a very long time was Ning Qiuyan finally able to lift his head from the pillow and reclaim his breath. He turned his head to glance at Guan Heng, and his mind exploded with a buzz.
Guan Heng had put on that thing that looked like a black mask.
In the dimness, he looked like a silent god.
His lashes were lowered, and he gazed down from above, as if granting a surrendered believer one final chance to breathe.
