Chapter 2
When I opened my eyes again, a handsome, bright-looking man stood before me. “How are you feeling? Any discomfort?” he asked with concern.
His face was so gorgeous that I froze. What a beautiful man. But…
“Who are you?”
He paused. “You’ve forgotten me too?”
“Do you still remember who you are?”
I nodded. Of course I did.
“It seems the medicine was a little too potent,” he said thoughtfully.
He cleared his throat, looking rather awkward. “Since you’ve forgotten, I’ll explain. I’m your master, Buying. I specialize in alchemy. Something went wrong with your cultivation recently, and it took considerable effort to save your life. Your memory has suffered a few problems.”
So that was what had happened.
I looked up at him.
Silver hair cascaded down his back. A tiny mole nestled at the outer corner of his alluring eyes; his lips were red, his teeth white, his skin like cool jade.
I was devastated.
A man who looked like that was my master?
Couldn’t he be my husband instead?
Seeing me stare, Buying grew nervous. “Are you still feeling unwell anywhere?”
At the thought of my scandalous musings, my face burned. “N-no.”
But my blush only made him more worried. Suddenly, he leaned toward me, laying his slender fingers against my forehead. “Why is your face so red? Do you have a fever?”
That beautiful face abruptly filled my vision. My cheeks grew even hotter. Staring blankly at him, I blurted, “Does our sect allow masters to date their disciples?”
The hand on my forehead went rigid.
Then he sprang backward as if he’d seen a ghost.
“Y-y-you…?!”
I blushed a little more.
Buying looked utterly hopeless. “Please stop blushing. I’m begging you…”
Just then, the sound of a cup shattering came from behind the screen.
I was about to ask what that noise was.
Suddenly, a thunderclap erupted out of nowhere.
A bolt struck Buying squarely.
He was about to speak.
Then seven or eight more bolts of heavenly lightning struck him all at once.
He sighed, making no attempt to dodge. Looking at me helplessly, he said, “See that? Divine punishment. A romance between master and disciple brings divine punishment.”
I was stunned.
Then Buying used a spell to fling me out of the room.
Lightning still flashed and thunder rolled inside.
Mingled with it, I seemed to hear Buying’s muffled words.
“Something’s wrong with her memories. She’s confused! Why are you taking it out on me?!”
“I really wasn’t trying to seduce her!”
“What do you mean, I look like this just so this day would happen?! I told you, she didn’t fall in love with me at first sight. She only liked me a little when she saw me!”
Was he explaining himself and apologizing to divine punishment?
Could cultivators at this level communicate with heaven and earth?
How impressive!
