Chapter 3

A year ago, I realized that Liang Yan had already given me about as much as he could.

I was already an A-list young actress.

There were plenty of resources I could get without him.

In fact, I could even get resources he couldn’t.

But I didn’t dump him right away.

First, because even though he couldn’t do much to help me anymore, it would be all too easy for him to ruin things for me. I couldn’t afford to make an enemy of him.

Second, as the delicate little innocent devoted to her patron, I was supposed to wait until he got tired of me and paid me off to leave-not take the initiative to fire my own sugar daddy.

Otherwise, I’d look far too calculating. What patron would dare take me on after that?

Third, I was still waiting for Liang Yan to get bored and give me a breakup fee.

So I waited.

I waited for Liang Yan to give me a proper reason to break things off.

But over the past year, he seemed to have settled down. There hadn’t been anyone new by his side.

So when I heard that Liang Yan had given Zhong Ni the two endorsements and the movie he had originally promised me, I let out a long sigh of relief.

At last, I had a chance to replace him.

I slept beautifully that night, then reported to set bright and early the next morning.

The opening ceremony was already halfway through when Zhong Ni finally made her grand, belated entrance.

Liang Yan was the biggest investor in this drama.

As Liang Yan’s new favorite, Zhong Ni was naturally given the highest standard of treatment in every possible way.

A five-star hotel, her own private celebrity van, and even a personal screenwriter at her side.

The director actually agreed without a word to several completely unreasonable scenes added for her.

Seeing the director’s attitude, I naturally kept as far away from Zhong Ni as possible.

Unfortunately, Zhong Ni insisted on coming over to provoke me.

The third time she used filming as an excuse to shove me into the pond, I grabbed her and dragged her down with me.

Sadly, Zhong Ni really was a terrible swimmer.

All that happened to me was that my makeup got ruined. She, on the other hand, swallowed several real mouthfuls of that murky green pond water.

As luck would have it, Liang Yan had come to visit the set. Zhong Ni was so aggrieved that tears kept falling.

Liang Yan scooped Zhong Ni up in his arms and looked at me with a half-smile. “You really have developed a temper.”

I stood in the pond with my eyes lowered, my face deathly pale, looking as pitiful as humanly possible.

Liang Yan said, “Apologize to Xiao Ni, and I’ll let this go.”

I said softly, “I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Liang Yan had been embarrassed by me in front of everyone, and his temper flared too. “Then stand there in the pond. When you’ve figured it out, you can come back up.”

With that, he left with his people.

Of course I wasn’t going to stupidly keep standing there. I waited until the paparazzi had taken enough photos, then immediately “fainted.”

Xiao Chen rushed over at once, shouting for people to send me back to the hotel.

By the time I finished showering in my room, Xiao Chen had already sent out the press release.
