Chapter 3
Chapter 3
My history with Jiang Cheng was dull and hardly worth mentioning.
When my grandmother was young, she did the Jiang Family a great favor-it was said she saved Jiang Cheng’s maternal grandmother from a kidnapping. Because of that, the Jiang Family always sent gifts over during the holidays.
After I got into university, my grandmother was getting on in years and couldn’t move around easily. Worried that I wouldn’t be able to adapt to the pace of the big city on my own, she contacted the Jiang Family and asked them to look after me.
That year, when I walked out of the train station lugging bags of luggage, I saw Jiang Cheng at a glance. He was leaning against a car, looking down at his phone with a nonchalant air.
He was truly dazzling-so dazzling that I wanted to heap every beautiful word I had ever learned onto him.
Falling for him was the most natural thing in the world.
I knew we belonged to different worlds, and I never dared to hope for anything more. The moon hung high in the sky; having its light spill over me as I passed by was enough.
Jiang Cheng and I attended the same university. Occasionally, at the request of his elders, he would bring things to me. After a few of these encounters, we became casual acquaintances.
Later, I heard the love story of Jiang Cheng and his childhood sweetheart. The romance of the main characters is always poignant and lingering; they were caught in a constant cycle of sweetness, arguments, breakups, and reconciliations.
I was merely a spectator, feeling the occasional pang of disappointment.
During my junior year, I started an internship. Since the company was far from school, I spent a lot of time commuting every day. During a chance encounter with Jiang Cheng, he asked how I was doing, and I told him the truth.
Not long after, I received a call from Jiang Cheng’s grandmother. She said the family happened to have a vacant apartment near my company and told me to move in directly.
It was hard to refuse an elder’s kindness, and I was deeply grateful.
After moving in, I found traces of Jiang Cheng’s life everywhere. Conscious of my own hidden feelings, I kept all my belongings confined to the guest room, trying my best to minimize any sign of my presence.
That lasted until the night I came home late from overtime and found a drunk Jiang Cheng slumped on the sofa in a daze.
I intended to keep my distance to avoid any misunderstanding, but I was worried he would catch a cold. I brought over a light blanket to cover him.
Jiang Cheng opened his eyes and looked at me.
I thought he was going to demand to know why I was in his house.
Instead, he pinned me down, and in the end, a grave mistake was made.

Wrong Love
On the day the divorce was finalized, I booked a high-speed rail ticket back to my hometown. A phone, an ID card, and a bank card with a meager balance were all I had left.
When the butler...
