Shen Ze lived right across from Shen Yanchen’s house. If he opened his window, he could see Shen Yanchen’s home.

He distinctly remembered seeing Uncle Nine’s car return to the villa before six o’clock this afternoon.

So why did he go back to the company to work overtime?

And he’s working so late!

Could something major have happened at the company?

For Uncle Nine to work overtime this late, it must be a serious problem!

Shen Ze didn’t dare to ask about Shen Yanchen’s affairs, so he skipped the topic and said to Xia Sheng, “Little Celestial Master, come in quickly. Don’t leave tonight, I’m afraid that…”

The Female Ghost will come looking for me again.

He hadn’t finished saying the last few words when he felt a chilling gaze fall upon him.

He shivered all over and cautiously glanced at Shen Yanchen.

What’s going on?

Why did Uncle Nine suddenly look at him?

Xia Sheng didn’t notice the subtle atmosphere in the air and nodded, “Alright, I’ll stay here tonight and keep watch over you.”

She had to do her best to meet the patron’s request.

Shen Ze was overjoyed, “Thank you, Little Celestial Master. Please come in.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the air suddenly felt a few degrees colder.

Shen Ze’s body tensed again, and he glanced at Shen Yanchen.

What does this Buddha mean?

Shen Ze was so nervous he didn’t dare speak again. Xia Sheng turned to Shen Yanchen and said politely and formally, “Ninth Master, thank you for bringing me here. You can go back now.”

Shen Yanchen said nothing.

Shen Ze’s heart thumped wildly.

Xia Sheng tilted her head in confusion.

As if she suddenly remembered something, Xia Sheng took a fifty-yuan bill out of her bag.

“Are you waiting for the fare? Sorry, I forgot earlier.”

Shen Yanchen: “…”

Shen Ze: “…”

Did his Uncle Nine look like someone who needed fifty yuan?

How could he possibly be standing here for fifty yuan!?

There must be some other deeper meaning to Uncle Nine being here.

But in the next second, he saw his Uncle Nine suddenly smile and take the fifty-yuan bill.

Shen Ze was dumbfounded.

Uncle Nine actually accepted the fifty yuan from the Little Celestial Master!

And what was that ambiguous smile about?

Shen Ze’s eyes darted between the two, and as if he suddenly understood something, he solemnly promised Shen Yanchen, “Uncle Nine, Little Celestial Master is my friend. She’ll sleep in the guest room tonight, and I absolutely won’t disturb her.”

Shen Yanchen glanced at him, said nothing, and left directly.

After Shen Yanchen left, Shen Ze pulled Xia Sheng aside and asked, “Little Celestial Master, how did you meet my Uncle Nine?”

Xia Sheng: “We only met once.”

Shen Ze: Love at first sight!

He never expected his Uncle Nine, who was so old, to actually like someone so young.

“What stage are you two at now?”

“What stage?”

“You know, that, that.”

“That, that?”

Shen Ze: “…”

Did the Little Celestial Master really not understand?

He wanted to gossip more, but then Xia Sheng said quietly, “Your emotions seem pretty stable now. Aren’t you afraid the Fierce Ghost will come after you again?”

Shen Ze was so frightened he shivered all over, shrank his neck, and moved closer to Xia Sheng, nearly in tears.

He had just managed to forget the scare he got tonight!

And now the Little Celestial Master was scaring him again!

Shen Ze arranged for Xia Sheng to stay in the room next to his. When he escorted Xia Sheng to her door, he was still extremely nervous, his face full of fear.

Seeing how scared he was, Xia Sheng took out a calming talisman and slapped it onto his forehead.

Almost instantly, Shen Ze calmed down.

Shen Ze exclaimed in amazement.

The Little Celestial Master was truly awesome.

She was practically omnipotent!

Shen Ze couldn’t help but look at Xia Sheng with even more admiration.

Xia Sheng said, “Rest early. There are arrangements for tomorrow.”

Shen Ze: “What arrangements?”
“Catching ghosts.”

Shen Ze shuddered all over, then nodded solemnly and went back to his room to sleep.

The next morning, as usual, Xia Sheng got up at six-thirty, read for an hour, and only then did Shen Ze get up.

After breakfast, Shen Ze finally asked Xia Sheng about catching ghosts: “Little Celestial Master, you said we’re going to catch ghosts today. Where are we going to catch them?”

Xia Sheng wiped her mouth with a napkin and asked, “Do you have a female relative with the nickname Weiwei?”

“My cousin’s name is Mo Wei.” Shen Ze had just gone out for dinner yesterday with Mo Wei and a few friends from their circle, so he quickly thought of the name.

“Little Celestial Master, you’re not saying the one who tried to harm me is Mo Wei, are you? She may be a bit spoiled, but after all, we’re relatives. She has no reason to want to kill me.”

Xia Sheng replied, “She’s not the type to care about such things. Has your uncle been hospitalized recently?”

Shen Ze was startled. “You mean my uncle was also put in the hospital by Mo Wei? But that’s her biological father! How could she do such a thing!?”

Xia Sheng said calmly, “It’s not surprising. Adolescents who lack proper guidance can easily go astray.”

Shen Ze glanced at Xia Sheng’s youthful, delicate face.

He couldn’t help but feel that it was a bit incongruous for the Little Celestial Master to say such mature things.

Now that they had identified who was behind the scenes, the two of them set off straight for the Mo Family.

With Shen Ze’s uncle in the hospital, only Mo Madam was at home.

The Mo Family was not considered a prominent household in the Capital City and usually relied on Shen Ze’s family for support. As a result, Mo Madam was always very courteous toward Shen Ze.

As soon as she saw Shen Ze and Xia Sheng enter, Mo Madam immediately walked over with a beaming smile.

“A-Ze, what brings you to see your aunt today?”

In front of his elders, Shen Ze restrained his usual temperament, exchanged a few polite words with Mo Madam, and then asked, “Aunt, is Weiwei at home? I need to talk to her.”

“Oh dear, what bad timing.” Mo Madam looked troubled. “Weiwei went traveling with her classmates. She probably won’t be back until school starts next week.”

Shen Ze frowned. “What a coincidence?”

Mo Madam sighed, looking helpless. “Exactly. She left just an hour ago. If you’d come a bit earlier, you might have caught her.”

Xia Sheng glanced at Mo Madam and said, “Madam, lying is not a good habit.”

Only then did Mo Madam notice Xia Sheng following behind Shen Ze. She said discontentedly, “When did I lie? Young lady, don’t speak carelessly. Show some respect to your elders. Didn’t your parents teach you that?”

Xia Sheng replied unhurriedly, “Your daughter is in the hospital, isn’t she?

“You already know your daughter is raising a ghost to absorb Shen Ze’s vital energy. Are you lying now to cover for her?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Mo Madam’s face instantly turned ugly, and her voice rose several notches: “You wretched girl, what nonsense are you spouting!?

“What ghost-raising, what vital energy? I think you’re the one with a problem! If you want to act crazy, do it somewhere else. Don’t spread your wild tales here!”

A mocking smile tugged at Xia Sheng’s lips. “Madam, I just made a casual remark. Why are you so agitated? Did I hit a sore spot?”

Shen Ze was no fool. He could also see the clues from Mo Madam’s words and actions, and his mood grew heavy.

“Aunt, I believe my parents have treated your family quite well. Over the years, we’ve helped the Mo Family a lot. Why would you let Weiwei harm me?”

“Weiwei is your cousin. How could she possibly harm you?” Mo Madam looked as if she had suffered a great injustice, both angry and aggrieved.

But when speaking to Shen Ze, she still put on the attitude of a kind elder and advised, “A-Ze, don’t listen to this girl’s nonsense. There’s no such thing as ghosts or gods in this world.

“You’d better not associate with this kind of charlatan in the future, or you’ll only bring trouble upon yourself!”
