The wardrobe was empty.
Ouyang stood in front of the wardrobe, holding a knife.
Blood still clung to the blade, dripping down onto my face.
Yes, I was lying under the bed next to the wardrobe.
If Ouyang got down on the floor, she would see me.
One second, two seconds.
Just as I was about to lose my mind, Ouyang turned around.
She left.
The sound of chopping meat started up again in the kitchen. I dashed out and grabbed He Qi’s phone from under the sofa.
What was He Qi’s password?
Think fast, you’ve seen him enter it before, you can remember.
I tried once.
Incorrect.
Tried again.
Still incorrect.
Finally, on my third attempt, it unlocked.
I let out a long breath and immediately tapped into the messaging screen.
Ouyang was in the kitchen; I didn’t dare make a sound to call, but I could send a text to the police.
But my hands were shaking so badly from nerves that I accidentally hit the lock button again.
The screen went dark.
I cursed myself silently and prepared to enter the password again.
But suddenly, my hand froze.
The darkened screen reflected two faces.
One was mine.
The other was Ouyang’s, right behind me.
The sound of chopping meat was still coming from the kitchen.
But Ouyang, at some point, had appeared behind me.
Her eyes were large and dark, staring straight at me through the screen.
“Did you not get the message I sent you?” she asked softly.
