Chapter 1

I glanced at the gauze wrapped around his head and thought to myself: Buddy, if I told you it was you, I’m genuinely afraid you wouldn’t be able to handle the shock.

“Don’t worry about it. Either way, it wasn’t you.”

“When did you get married?”

“Four years ago.”

“What did I do back then?”

I gave him a beaming smile. “You gave me a massive red envelope.”

He lowered his eyes. “That’s impossible.”

For some reason, a hint of loneliness flickered between those handsome brows.

As expected, even with amnesia, this guy isn’t easy to fool.

Given our history, there was no way he would have given me a massive red envelope. He probably would have wanted to lace the food for all the wedding guests with laxatives.

He would have wanted to turn my wedding into the biggest joke in history.

Seeing him lost in his own thoughts, my hand moved faster than my brain.

I reached out and pinched his cheek. “Let’s go. Time to go home.”

“Home?” His eyes suddenly lit up, as if he had found a glimmer of hope.

My mind raced to fabricate a reason.

“Yeah. The Shen Family went bankrupt, did you know that?”

“You’re my servant now.”

Shen Yunxing, who had been on the verge of breaking this whole time, finally shattered completely.

I committed fully to the act, having already coordinated with the nanny and the housekeeper at home.

I had even cleared it with his parents. To let Shen Yunxing recover in peace for a while, we would lie to him for now.

It was better than having him worry about company matters.

So, while we were in the car, he still held onto a final shred of hope.

When he called his parents to confirm the situation, the answer he got was: “Son, our family… we really are bankrupt.”

He lowered his phone, his eyes rimmed with red. The proud young master, the gifted S-rank Alpha, had truly become a penniless pauper.

After a long silence, he finally spoke in a low voice:

“So, what exactly do I do at your house?”

“A lot of things. Laundry, cooking, serving tea, pouring water… oh, and you have to wash my feet.”

The more he heard, the deeper his frown became. When I mentioned washing my feet, he turned his head away entirely to stare out the window.

His cold, sharp profile, now tinged with such dejection, actually added a touch of fragile beauty to his look.

Anyone seeing him would sigh and call him a “poor, heartbreaking darling.”

I was practically dying of laughter inside. I bit my lip hard, making sure not to let a single sound escape.

You have to understand, the usual Shen Yunxing was an absolute ‘flower on a high peak’-unapproachable and aloof.

His life had been a glittering path of success from the moment he was born, a favored son of heaven, a true dragon among men.

His journey had been nothing but sparks and lightning.

I once asserted that if I ever saw Shen Yunxing’s eyes turn red with tears, it would probably be at my funeral.

That comment eventually reached Shen Yunxing’s ears.

He had snorted after hearing it. “Thinking a bit much, aren’t you? I’d only show up at your funeral to set off firecrackers.”

Seeing him this vulnerable now was incredibly satisfying.

I kept my jaw clenched the whole way home, stifling my laughter.
