Chapter 1
Chapter 1
The rain in Jiangcheng had been particularly heavy these past few days. When Wei Yan returned home, water dripped rhythmically from the surface of his umbrella.
As always, I had a dry towel ready for him.
He lowered his head, his eyes-shimmering like a sea of stars-gazing at me without blinking.
“Did you miss me?”
I rubbed the towel through his short black hair, messing it up. In the process, I inadvertently caught a glimpse of that tattoo again.

He laughed, his eyes curving into crescents, then pulled me close and kissed my forehead.
Afterward, he draped the towel over his shoulder and headed to the bathroom on his own.
I stood there staring at his back, thinking about what his old classmate had told me this afternoon.
Wei Yan’s ex-girlfriend had once attempted suicide for him.
