Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Neither Song Zhiyuan nor I spoke on the way back.
Just as the car pulled up to the entrance of the residential area, I saw Zhou Jin.
He was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday.
His neck and face were covered in scratches of varying degrees, and the corner of his mouth was badly bruised and swollen. He had clearly been beaten up.
Song Zhiyuan parked the car with unhurried composure.
When Zhou Jin saw him, his fists clenched and his eyes glared at me with fury. “Shu Shu, he’s treated you like this, yet you’re still entangled with him!”
This Zhou Jin seemed to have reverted to the impulsive, hot-headed, and passionate youth of the past.
He was a completely different person from the polite man in the business suit I saw yesterday.
“Young Master Zhou, you’re about to get engaged, yet you’re still trying to control which men your ex-girlfriend sees. Aren’t you overstepping?” Before I could speak, Song Zhiyuan had already beaten me to it.
“You have a wife, yet you’re out here looking for other women-eight of them at once! You scumbag!” Zhou Jin roared, his teeth itching with hatred.
“That’s why I got a divorce,” Song Zhiyuan replied matter-of-factly.
Zhou Jin’s fire was instantly extinguished.
He had been clumsy with words since he was a child, believing in the philosophy of ‘actions over words.’ Trying to argue with a sharp-tongued person like Song Zhiyuan was nothing short of throwing an egg against a rock.
“Go back,” I urged.
Zhou Jin didn’t budge.
I continued, “Your fiancée is still at home waiting for you.”
“And you?” he asked.
“I’m advising you to go home,” I said, speechless.
Seeing this, Song Zhiyuan pulled out his phone and called Ye Wanxin directly.
This move absolutely floored me.
Song Zhiyuan remained exceptionally calm. “Yes, Meihualu Community. He’s here harassing my ex-wife. It’s creating a bad scene.”
After hanging up, Song Zhiyuan turned to the still-shocked Zhou Jin and said, “If you want to pursue my ex-wife, fine. But please clean up your own mess before you try.”
With that, he took my hand.
He led me straight toward the main gate of the community.
I couldn’t help but look back at Zhou Jin, and he happened to be looking at me too.
I immediately averted my gaze.
Once we entered the elevator, Song Zhiyuan instantly let go of my hand.
He even deliberately put some distance between us.
It was as if I were carrying some kind of infectious disease.
When we reached my front door, Song Zhiyuan showed no intention of coming inside.
Just as I was about to close the door, he suddenly reached out to hold it open. “When are you going to add me to the group?”
Huh?
Song Zhiyuan continued, “An ex-husband is also an ex. You can’t play favorites. Don’t leave me out of the organization to wander the streets alone.”
“…” This man was definitely sick in the head.
“If you don’t add me, I’ll get Zhou Jin to do it.”
“If Zhou Jin is willing to add you to that group, I’ll find you a No. 9!” I shouted at his retreating back as he walked away.
In the middle of the night, while I was fast asleep, Ji Ting called and woke me up.
“Xiao Shu, have you seen the group messages?”
“Mmh… what group messages?” I was so annoyed at having my sleep interrupted that I felt like killing someone, but Ji Ting’s voice sounded exceptionally excited.
“Zhou Jin added your ex-husband to the group!” Ji Ting said, emphasizing every word.
“What?!” I was instantly energized, my mind snapping into clarity.
“What kind of nerve did Zhou Jin hit?”
“Did Ye Wanxin call off the engagement?” I asked tentatively.
“Xiao Shu, don’t get any ideas. Even if Ye Wanxin calls off the engagement, there’s no way for you and Zhou Jin anymore,” Ji Ting warned.
“I was just asking.” Back when I couldn’t see him, I thought of him day and night.
Now that I had seen him, I felt that my feelings for him could never return to what they once were.
“Holy crap! Zhou Jin just invited your ex-husband to play mahjong in the group. Do you think he’s gone crazy?” Ji Ting said in disbelief.
I hurried to the group to scroll through the chat history.
The mahjong invitation had happened two minutes ago.
I was numb.
Lin Ye was even more of a provocateur; he had actually changed the group name from the original Wen Shu and 6 Ex-Boyfriends to Miss Wen’s Ex-Boyfriend Camp.
“That’s enough for two tables of mahjong!” Ji Ting marveled.
These damn men really just wanted to see the world burn.
