Chapter 2

Ji Ting was my very first boyfriend.

We were together in middle school, but we broke up after only three days.

At that age, we had a level of passion for dating that adults find hard to comprehend.

Ji Ting was handsome and a top student.

He was the dream guy for so many girls, yet he was the one who came to ask me if I wanted to be his girlfriend.

I thought about it for a whole night before agreeing.

Then, on the third day…

He said he didn’t think we were a good match and that we should just be friends.

I kicked him and cursed, “Ji Ting, you’re such a moron!”

Actually, I wasn’t even that heartbroken; it was more about the blow to my ego.

Ji Ting ended up buying me breakfast and lunch for a whole year before I finally restored our friendship.

By the time I arrived at Ji Ting’s place, it was already dark.

Inside the mahjong room, besides Ji Ting, were Lin Ye and Wei Heng.

Zhou Jin wasn’t there.

“Stop looking, it’s just the three of us!” Lin Ye snapped, giving me an annoyed glare.

Wei Heng pulled out the chair next to him for me to sit down.

He immediately started gossiping. “Xiao Shu, did you really divorce Song Zhiyuan?”

“Yeah.” Wei Heng was the second boyfriend I found after Ji Ting broke up with me.

I was stupid back then; I just wanted to prove that I could still find a boyfriend.

Unfortunately, that relationship only lasted seven days before fizzling out.

All because he let out a fart while we were on a date.

He felt too embarrassed to show his face again and insisted on breaking up with me.

When you run into a moron like that, if you don’t break up, what are you waiting for? The New Year?

Lin Ye was the third.

We dated for two months before I initiated the breakup.

It was because the high school entrance exams were coming up, and I couldn’t let it interfere with my studies.

This group chat was actually started by him. He and Zhou Jin were the closest of friends. Not long after we broke up, Zhou Jin came to pursue me.

He claimed he wanted to seek revenge for his brother.

Then, somehow, in the process of seeking revenge, he ended up falling for me himself.

The night he confessed to me, I was trying to share a kiss with my fourth boyfriend.

He popped out of nowhere.

“Wen Shu, I like you! I want to be with you!”

After saying that, he pointed at my boyfriend at the time, He Boyu, and said, “From today on, as long as you’re still Wen Shu’s boyfriend, I’ll beat you up every time I see you.”

“You’re crazy, Zhou Jin!” He Boyu didn’t want to deal with this lunatic at all.

But Zhou Jin really was crazy. The two of them started brawling right in front of me.

Both ended up in the hospital.

Later, Zhou Jin stayed true to his word and beat him up every time they met. Eventually, He Boyu was beaten into submission. He cried and begged me to break up with him.

“Zhou Jin is a lunatic. I’m genuinely terrified.”

After I split with He Boyu, Zhou Jin became like a piece of sticky candy, clinging to me and refusing to let go.

He even went around school announcing that I was his future girlfriend, declaring that if anyone was blind enough to pursue me, he’d beat them until they were looking for their teeth on the floor.

He had a wild personality to begin with, and his father had sent him to martial arts classes to learn some techniques when he was a kid.

No one dared to provoke him.

And so, he plagued me throughout my three years of high school.

“Xiao Shu, Zhou Jin is crazy, but are you going to be crazy along with him?”

My trip down memory lane ended as Ji Ting looked at me with deep disapproval. “He’s returning to the country this time to get engaged to Miss Ye.”

I nonchalantly drew a mahjong tile. “He can have his engagement, and I’ll go on my blind dates. It’s none of my business.”

“Blind dates?!” Lin Ye looked at me in shock. “Didn’t you just get divorced today?”

“I got divorced today, so is it illegal to go on a blind date?” I asked.

“It’s not illegal,” Wei Heng chimed in. “It’s just a bit immoral.”

I laughed. “Still better than farting on a date!”

Wei Heng’s face instantly flushed red with anger. “Wen Shu, just keep acting out! Only Zhou Jin can put up with you.”

“I’m done playing.” I pushed the mahjong tiles away and stood up to leave.

Ji Ting grabbed my arm. “Don’t go, Old Wei was just joking.”

I pushed him away. “I’m going to the Lu family’s matchmaking banquet tomorrow. I need to get my beauty sleep early. You guys find someone else to play with.”

Seeing that I was serious about leaving, Lin Ye kicked Wei Heng and cursed, “It was just one fart! You’re a damn grown man, how long are you going to be so sensitive about it!”

Wei Heng hung his head and went silent.

“I’m off, don’t try to stop me,” I said.

Seeing he couldn’t convince me to stay, Ji Ting could only walk me to the elevator.

While waiting for the elevator, he looked at me hesitantly and asked, “Are you really going to the Lu family’s matchmaking banquet tomorrow?”

“Mhm,” I answered absentmindedly, watching the floor numbers change.

“Then what about Zhou Jin? Have you never thought…”

“The elevator’s here.” I cut off his probing and stepped inside.

Ji Ting let out a long sigh.

I found it somewhat baffling. Why was it that as soon as I got divorced, everyone felt the need to bring up that man’s name?

Do I look like the type of person who stays hung up on someone for a long time?

The answer was a definite no.

Otherwise, I wouldn’t have married Song Zhiyuan less than a year after he left.
