Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Even after being detained, I didn’t stop my investigation or my appeals.
But strangely enough, all the information from back then had simply “vanished.”
The surveillance cameras at the intersection where the accident happened were broken, and the vehicle involved had been scrapped and destroyed. Four years later, I couldn’t even find the name of the driver who caused the crash.
During a night of drinking, my senior colleague told me to stop. “It’s been four years. You’ve aged ten years in this time.”
“Brother, something’s wrong with this case. Xiaoyu was murdered…”
“And then what? Can you actually uncover the truth?”
“So I should just stop?” I asked him. “I should just stop? Just stop?”
I slammed my hand against the table. “Should I just fucking stop?!”

Suddenly, a phone started ringing in a corner.
It wasn’t my ringtone, but it sounded familiar.
I ignored it at first, but it just kept ringing and ringing.
Getting irritated, I stood up and started searching. Finally, I found the source of the sound in a box under the bed.
It was an iPhone 7.
It was an old phone I hadn’t used in at least three years. How did it still have a charge?
I picked up the phone, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the name on the caller ID…
Qiu Xiaoyu.
