“Fatigued driving? Fatigued driving, my ass!”

I was screaming at the top of my lungs in the police station. If my senior hadn’t been holding me back from behind, I would have smashed everything in sight.

“Mr. Li, I understand how you feel, but please…”

“You don’t understand shit! Let me see the killer. Now!”

“That is not possible.”

“This was murder! Are you people blind?”

“Mr. Li, there is absolutely no evidence to prove this was a premeditated killing. Therefore… it’s being classified as fatigued driving.”

“You bastard…”

“What did you say?”

“I said you’re a bastard!” I wrenched myself free from my senior’s grip and shoved a finger right under the officer’s nose. “You know exactly what happened! You’re lying to me, you fucking bastard!”

Suddenly, the officer lunged forward, seized my arm, and slammed me face-first into the floor. He pinned my neck down hard with his knee.

“Say that again?” he challenged.

“You… fucking… bastard!”

As soon as the words left my mouth, I heard the sound of joints cracking. I couldn’t breathe anymore.

I felt my hands being yanked behind my back and cuffed together.

“You have insulted a public official. I am now placing you under criminal detention in accordance with the law.”

Even after saying that, he showed no intention of letting go.

He kept his full weight pressed against my neck until I blacked out.

I knew I shouldn’t have been so impulsive-at least not at a critical moment like this.

But I had seen it clearly. When that officer said the words “fatigued driving”…

He was smiling.

Before I lost consciousness, I became more certain than ever.

This officer-and this entire situation-was dirty.
