Chapter 13
The axe came down with force.
It did not strike the head of the Ghost Mother.
It struck the seven umbilical cords made of iron chains.
[Is she crazy! Didn’t Cheng Jing say to cut off the head?]
[Guys, my intolerance for stupidity is acting up.]
[Let’s wait and watch Green Tea get torn apart.]
The chains snapped suddenly.
The little ghosts, like masses of flesh deprived of their blood supply, screamed and writhed, tumbling about.
Gradually, they shriveled into withered lumps of blood.
The moment I swung the axe, the Ghost Mother was already in my face.
I didn’t have time to dodge.
Her tentacles had already wrapped around me.
[Green Tea is dead!]
[Will it be rebar through the body, or will she get ripped to shreds?]
She didn’t attack me.
She only drew close, gazing at me in confusion:
“Hiss… came… to save me…?
“To… take me… home…?”
As she spoke, two streams of bloody tears flowed from her hollow eyes:
“Don’t… remember…
“…Don’t… remember home.”
Cheng Jing lay on the ground, roaring in anger:
“Xu Xin! Kill her! What are you waiting for if you’re not going to kill her?
“Anomalies can corrupt the mind! Are you really going to listen to her talk? Do you want us all to die here?”
I slammed the axe into the ground and shot him a cold glance:
“Cheng Jing! You’d better shut up and listen to me!
“Do you really want me to expose what you’re thinking?”
I pointed the axe at Cheng Jing, and he was so frightened he dared not speak.
But the Ghost Mother could no longer say anything.
She sat quietly, lost in thought for a very long time.
The Anomaly Value gradually faded away, disappearing.
She transformed from a bloated, monstrous humanoid spider into a delicate, slender figure.
Judging by her appearance, before she became an Anomaly, she was just a naive little sister.
She looked at Cheng Jing and suddenly remembered his name:
“Cheng… Jing…?”
[The Ghost Mother knows Cheng Jing?]
[No wonder the Ghost Mother only attacked Zhao Ying and not Cheng Jing back then.]
While the Ghost Mother lowered her head in confusion, Cheng Jing snatched up the giant axe from the ground, aiming it at the Ghost Mother’s head.
But steel tentacles extended from behind the Ghost Mother and pierced through his chest.
[Why does Cheng Jing insist on killing the Ghost Mother?]
[Ask Green Tea, I bet she knows.]
“I don’t know.” I looked at the Ghost Mother. “If they don’t tell me, I don’t know.”
