Classic, too classic.

Wu Xiaojiu’s nose wrinkled instantly, his expression as if he’d swallowed a fly.

The newcomer was clearly someone of importance; the group of burly men huddled together quickly dispersed.

The anger that had just been directed at Wu Xiaojiu began to fade.

For one reason only.

Someone who could treat a gilded Rolls-Royce as a mere toy, smashing and bumping it around at will-such staggering wealth.

There were only a handful of people in the entire city who could do that.

“Playing hard to get. In this city, aside from me, there isn’t a second man with such presence.”

The pretentious words were accompanied by a slight tilt of the black umbrella.

A face as sharply defined and ostentatious as his words was revealed to the crowd.

The man stood at 1.98 meters tall, his slicked-back black hair meticulously styled, the tailored black suit accentuating his tall, muscular physique.

His cold gaze swept over everyone present, finally landing on Wu Xiaojiu.

He curled his lips into a smile.

He spoke slowly:

“Qi Jiao. A pleasure.”

That name.

Wu Xiaojiu’s heart skipped a beat.

It wasn’t unfamiliar.

In fact, it could be called familiar.

Because in the original host’s memories, that name appeared time and again.

“I don’t care who you are, Qi Jiao, some so-called prodigy. We’ve already taken down the upstart Wu Family, what’s one more rich guy?

Do you know who’s backing us?”

The burly man’s beard twitched, but he still fearlessly waved his fist, his face fierce.

Qi Jiao didn’t respond.

But the Old Butler beside him raised his gloved hands.

He clapped.

Buzz!

A piercing alarm sounded.

Then, on the overpass above, all around and below, from every direction-

The sound of guns being loaded echoed.

Dense, pitch-black gun barrels dropped down.

Red dots covered the bodies of several burly men.

It looked like they’d broken out in a rash of red spots.

“The weather’s turning cold. Time for the Su Family to go bankrupt.”

Qi Jiao extended his hand, thumb pressed against the pad of his middle finger.

If he snapped his fingers-

The snipers stationed above, below, and on both sides of the overpass, guns at the ready, would obey his command and open fire instantly.

The group of burly men paced anxiously, trying to reach the blind spots of the shooters.

But there were too many of them.

Just counting the snipers on the overpass, there must have been a hundred or so, judging by the number of gun barrels.

Not to mention the others lying in wait in the surrounding thickets.

It was a complete inescapable net.

If all the guns fired at once-

It would be a real-life hail of bullets.

The men’s hearts were in their throats.

Even Wu Xiaojiu was stunned.

At that moment-

Bo Suihan, who had been leaning against the wall, looking indifferent and uninvolved,

Suddenly pushed off with his legs, arms crossed, and straightened up.

“Don’t kill them. Their lives are worthless.”

“How dare you! The young master is here, it’s not your place to give orders!”

Qi Jiao and the Old Butler turned to look at him in unison.

Bo Suihan’s cold face was pale as ice, his body trembling slightly, unconsciously.

Yet even so, his presence was undiminished.

“I said, don’t kill them.”

“Shoot the horse before the rider, catch the king before the thief. These men are retired, with combat experience and trustworthiness. If the mastermind behind them learns that even these men couldn’t deal with me and Wu Xiaojiu-

Guess what kind of people he’ll send next time to assassinate us? And will you be able to arrive in time again?”

Bo Suihan’s gaze was deep as he stared at Qi Jiao.

Sparks seemed to fly between them.

Qi Jiao was probably encountering someone who dared to contradict his orders for the first time.

His face darkened like ink.

He shifted his gaze to Wu Xiaojiu.
“It’s not your decision. The victim of this matter should be the one to decide whether these people stay or go.”

“So, what do you say? Should these people be killed or not?”

Wu Xiaojiu was taken aback once more.

He thought to himself, What opinion could I possibly have?

Still, when he considered Bo Suihan’s words, they did make sense.

After a moment of hesitation,

Wu Xiaojiu spoke up:

“Qi Jiao, you came back from abroad this time and happened to track my whereabouts using the location from my electronic watch, but you still can’t figure out who ordered them. Killing them is pointless – no one knows what means will be used in the next assassination attempt.”

That was true.

Wu Xiaojiu and Qi Jiao, that domineering CEO, were acquainted.

And they were more than just casual acquaintances.

In fact, you could put it another way:

Wu Xiaojiu was Qi Jiao’s savior and his unrequited love.

But that’s a long story.

Moreover, Wu Xiaojiu didn’t think this emotionally blunt straight man harbored any feelings for him.

Despite Qi Jiao’s cold demeanor and the bold style of a wealthy man,

in reality, he had very little emotional intelligence.

For example, after Qi Jiao had been brought back to the Qi Family from the orphanage, a rich heiress once tried to arrange a marriage with him.

She deliberately invited him out on Valentine’s Day, booking the best hotel in the city for a candlelit dinner.

At exactly 1:14 a.m.,

she asked Qi Jiao if he’d ever kissed a girl.

Who would have expected Qi Jiao to think the girl was mocking him, burst into tears on the spot, and run all the way home.

Someone with such little emotional intelligence-almost lacking in human understanding-was truly a straight man.

Wu Xiaojiu saw today’s rescue simply as one brother repaying another.

Sure enough, for the sake of brotherhood, Qi Jiao hesitated for a moment.

Then Qi Jiao lowered his hand.

Seeing their boss withdraw the order, the snipers on both sides of the bridge and underneath immediately vanished without a trace.

At the same time, the distant buzzing of a Helicopter could be heard.

“I heard about the trouble with the Wu Family while I was abroad, rushed back in a panic, and when I saw your watch’s location wasn’t at the hospital, I knew something was wrong. Honestly, when I got here, I thought after all these years you wouldn’t recognize me.”

“But I didn’t expect, Xiaojiu, that just by remembering my boyish face from childhood, you could still recognize what I look like now.”

“Have you been at home day and night, always thinking of your father and hoping he’d come back?”

A Helicopter hovered over the bridge.

Amid the constant buzzing, a ladder was lowered down.

Qi Jiao curved his lips into a smile and reached out to take Wu Xiaojiu’s hand, while playfully patting his head.

“The Rolls-Royce is totaled and can’t be driven back. Let’s take the Helicopter to the hospital where your aunt is staying.”

As he spoke, Qi Jiao turned back to glance at Bo Suihan.

Bo Suihan was watching the two of them as well.

Noticing the gaze, he turned his head away.

“I forgot to ask-who is this with you?”

Wu Xiaojiu paused for a moment and then answered, “A friend.”

Qi Jiao nodded.

Qi Jiao was so tall that, to hold Wu Xiaojiu’s hand, he had to bend down a bit.

A large shadow fell over them.

Wu Xiaojiu sensed that whatever Qi Jiao was about to say, he swallowed it back.

In the end, that chiseled face only raised an eyebrow at him, then jerked his head in the direction of the Helicopter.

“Try not to hang around with shady friends in the future. Just now, when you were surrounded by those people, he just leaned against the wall and did nothing. Xiaojiu, you see, in this world only you and I are truly sincere with each other.”

Wu Xiaojiu wrinkled his nose inwardly.

He thought to himself, That’s not the case at all.

Bo Suihan wasn’t even his friend. In fact, if anything, Bo Suihan’s feelings toward him were probably so low he might half wish this money-stinking rich man would just drop dead.

How could anyone compare to Qi Jiao’s pure-hearted sincerity!

At that thought, Wu Xiaojiu almost felt like crying.
