“Sometimes, ability alone can’t put food on the table. There are perks to being a nouveau riche.”

Su Zhishi stroked his cheek, her expression very strange.

Wu Xiaojiu kept pondering over what the girl had said.

After all, the sentence sounded so mysterious that he couldn’t help feeling there was some hidden meaning.

It wasn’t until they arrived at the hotpot restaurant that he was still thinking about it.

As Bo Suihan passed by him, he shot him a cold glance.

“Rich and handsome – you should be pretty popular. Can’t you tell when others are trying to win you over?”

With that, he headed straight to the private room.

Wu Xiaojiu was left puzzled.

Trying to win someone over? Who? Him?

Wasn’t Su Zhishi always trying to win over Bo Suihan?

Bo Suihan had a rotten temper and spoke like a machine, giving short answers and only saying more if you hit a certain keyword.

But he had the protagonist’s aura.

It was just like Wang Mang and Liu Xiu.

Even if Wang Mang gathered everyone on Earth and killed Liu Xiu, with the power of the Heavenly Dao and Liu Xiu’s protagonist aura, he could just wipe out the Earth, create a world with only Liu Xiu, and then resurrect him – my beloved! The kind of melodramatic plot you only see in stories.

No matter how dramatic things got, Bo Suihan would be the brightest character in this book – that was beyond question.

Wu Xiaojiu looked at his own drab, worn-out shirt and shook his head.

He just didn’t believe that someone as outstanding as Su Zhishi would ever truly look at a nouveau riche ranked outside the top 100 like him.

This confusion lingered until Wu Xiaojiu entered the private room.

Su Zhishi and Bo Suihan were sitting opposite each other.

“Come sit here, Xiaojiu. Your right arm is injured, so it’s hard for you to eat. I’ll take care of you.” Su Zhishi patted the seat beside her, and added, “And since Mr. Bo knows you, he probably knows your tastes too and can order you an extra dish.”

The girl was certainly wonderful, but she happened to be liked by Long Aotian. His own life was already rough enough, and if he tried to shamelessly get closer now – forget three days, the Wu Family would probably go bankrupt tomorrow.

He kept inching away to the other side, waving Su Zhishi off with his hand.

Bo Suihan sat down next to him, gritted his teeth, and said in a low, menacing voice,

“What is this, are you showing off that you have a sister, or that you’re rich and all the women like you! Wu Xiaojiu, you even insult me by making me serve you…”

But the cold atmosphere and words that only the two of them heard made Wu Xiaojiu shudder.

He barely caught what Bo Suihan said after that. At this point, everything anyone said seemed to condense into one phrase in his ear:

The weather’s turning cold – let the Wu Family go bankrupt.

If Bo Suihan’s voice was three degrees colder when Wu Yuting broke off the engagement, and five degrees colder when he fought with Su Beizhi, then right now, the temperature around them was probably like a freezer – he was about to be frozen stiff.

Wu Xiaojiu sniffed and tilted his head back at a 45-degree angle, doing his best not to let the tears slip from the corners of his eyes.

His tiny sponge of a brain was working at top speed.

When Bo Suihan filled his bowl to the brim, and finally topped it with that last sprig of cilantro that broke him, Wu Xiaojiu leaned in closer to Bo Suihan.

He coughed twice, lowered his voice, and with the most sycophantic grin of his life, said:

“Your Majesty – please see clearly: I am a loyal subject and mean you no harm!”

He didn’t control his volume, so both Su Zhishi and Bo Suihan heard him.

Both their chopsticks shook.

They turned to look at Wu Xiaojiu in unison.

If there had been a crack in the ground, Wu Xiaojiu would have crawled in, waited a hundred years until they’d both forgotten about this, and then crawled back out.

Forget about strategies or getting back to his own world.

Things like fortune and life are no match compared to his pride!

Even someone who’s been knocked out has to get up and delete their chat and browsing history.

Why couldn’t Wu Xiaojiu be righteous just this once!

Meanwhile, in his mind, the little ball let out a sharp laugh.
And a prompt appeared: Long Aotian’s favorability -20.

His dignity was lost for the second time.

“Even eating can’t shut you up. If you love cosplay, go to a comic convention.”

Bo Suihan gritted his teeth and fiercely scooped up a full chopstick of cilantro, stuffing it into Wu Xiaojiu’s mouth.

Wu Xiaojiu shook his head with all his might, his teetering self-respect forcing him to utter that sentence.

“I don’t eat cilantro!”

After that, no one at the table spoke again.

Su Zhishi kept her head down, giving the two no chance to talk.

Meanwhile, Bo Suihan kept stuffing food into Wu Xiaojiu’s mouth, one chopstick after another.

Wu Xiaojiu ate like a hamster, both cheeks bulging.

But even so, he still couldn’t stop talking nonsense.

Bo Suihan was so annoyed by the noise that he became a little dazed.

Irritated, he scratched his head, and that piercing “Your Majesty” echoed in his mind once again.

So, the next time he picked up some vegetables, Wu Xiaojiu ended up biting into a whole chili pepper along with a pile of green peppers.

At that moment, someone knocked on their private room’s door.

The door opened from the outside, but it wasn’t a waiter who entered.

Instead, it was a woman, surrounded by a crowd of bodyguards, adorned with jewels, with striking features, a voluminous perm, dressed in leather-clearly someone extraordinary.

The moment she entered, her aura was overwhelming.

“Who is Bo Suihan? Stand up.”

The table fell silent for a second. Bo Suihan stood up calmly.

He stared at the woman for a couple of seconds, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.

“I don’t know who you are, but if you want to fight, take it outside.”

“Afraid to scare your friends. How righteous of you.”

“First, they’re not my friends. Second, I just don’t have money to pay for damages right now.”

A trace of amusement flashed in the woman’s eyes, and her aggressive tone softened slightly.

“Interesting. You certainly say what you think.”

As expected of a Long Aotian-type protagonist-just by breathing, people will praise him.

Wu Xiaojiu curiously peeked at the door, and at this moment, the woman’s information popped up in his mind.

Feng Jiutian, one of the names on the Marriage Contract, the number one in overseas trade in Jingdu, and the woman who had carved out a bloody path for the Feng Family in recent years.

She not only ruled the Feng Family herself, but even the branch families were under her control. She was always known for her decisiveness and ruthless methods.

Wu Xiaojiu had been prepared, but still felt no small shock reading this information.

The woman before him wore a voluminous perm, sky-high heels, and even her lipstick was in a regal red shade.

Her looks were already striking, but he didn’t expect her aura to be this aggressive!

The woman wasted no words. She spread out an ancient piece of paper on the table.

“Fifty million. With this, the Marriage Contract is null and void.”

Bo Suihan nodded and reached out, placing the bank card that had been sitting next to the Marriage Contract onto the table.

With a flick of his finger, it landed.

The woman raised an eyebrow, her imposing aura pressing in.

“What do you mean by that?”

“I don’t take what falls from the sky.”

Bo Suihan dared to say this because he had the capital to back it up.

In fact, his background was more than just a little impressive.

The woman gave a cold snort, crumpled the Marriage Contract into a ball and threw it into the trash, then turned and left.

Wu Xiaojiu, biting half a chopstick, watched Bo Suihan with Su Zhishi, both curious.

“My sister has a Marriage Contract with you, this lady also has a Marriage Contract with you-Bo Suihan, just how many marriage contracts do you have? It’s a monogamous society now, you know. You can’t break the law!”

Bo Suihan looked at Wu Xiaojiu as if he were an idiot.

After pondering for a while, he took out nine wrinkled pieces of paper from his small bag.

They were so wrinkled, they could be used as toilet paper.

Bo Suihan casually spread them out one by one.

Wu Xiaojiu counted them off, nodding.

“One, two, three, four… eight! You have eight Marriage Contracts.”

Bo Suihan nodded, then shook his head.

“Nine Marriage Contracts. There was also one with your sister, but after I came out, I just threw that paper away.”
