The huge object was neither a soccer ball nor a basketball, but a piece of human tissue.

A fatal wound could be vaguely seen on it.

Most importantly-what mattered the most-was that only half of this human tissue had decayed.

In the humid and stifling summer, with frequent heavy rain, if this had been left out for a while, it should have completely rotted by now, turning into a skull, instead of still bearing some resemblance to its appearance when alive.

Bo Suihan placed the thing in his hand and tossed it lightly.

He looked up at Wu Xiaojiu.

Because the other’s gaze was so sharp.

Wu Xiaojiu shook his head inexplicably, waving his hands again and again.

“It wasn’t me! I didn’t kill anyone.”

His actions were so comical that Bo Suihan was amused and let out a chuckle.

That face, usually sealed in frost, finally showed some liveliness.

“Who said you did it? Even though this thing is pretty fresh, it must have been outside for a day or so. Besides, I doubt you’re dumb enough to kill someone and then call me over.”

Wu Xiaojiu heard the laughter in his voice.

His guilty feeling instantly turned into embarrassed anger. His expression was unnatural as he pouted and gently lifted the white curtain.

He glanced forward, trying to see if Wu Yuting was still asleep.

“Don’t bother looking. I knew something had happened when I came in, so when I passed by your sister earlier, I gave her a little medicine. It’s a sleeping aid that’s harmless to the body.”

Wu Xiaojiu felt a chill on his cheek as the person behind him reached out, supporting his jaw and forcing him to turn around.

Bo Suihan’s eyes were tinged with laughter, as if he’d caught him in the act, looking pleased with himself.

Those long, narrow eyes squinted ever so slightly, making him look like a fox confident of victory.

“You wouldn’t have called me here just for this. Come on, Young Master Wu, spending the night at the hospital-what did you encounter?”

Wu Xiaojiu felt a bit odd under his gaze.

He clicked his tongue and tilted his head slightly.

His body swayed unnaturally, and he restlessly raised his hand.

He pointed at the head Bo Suihan was holding.

“Shouldn’t we at least call the police first? Are we just going to leave this head here like this?”

“No rush. There hasn’t been a homicide in our city all month, but this head is remarkably fresh. We can wait until morning to report it-let the police deal with the chaos.”

As Bo Suihan spoke, he set the head down on the windowsill.

On second thought, this made sense.

The identity of the head was unknown; while it looked fresh, it had still been out for a few days, and the police hadn’t yet received any missing persons report.

There were probably complicated factors behind it.

Besides, even though Wu Xiaojiu had been scared twice in a row,

his mind was still somewhat foggy, and he felt sleepy.

If they reported it now, the police would make him give a statement, and there’d be no sleep tonight.

So he simply listened to Bo Suihan.

Wu Xiaojiu sat on the edge of the bed, facing the window and the head, and began to recount everything that had happened that night.

On and on he spoke, for half an hour straight, and when he finally finished explaining all the reasons and details,

he couldn’t help but look up at the head.

At that moment, the wind was blowing fiercely.

Even with the window closed, the howling could be heard.

Wu Xiaojiu’s gaze slowly followed the base of the wall upward.

Where the wall had been dry, now a stream of blood was trickling down.

“What are you looking at?”

Perhaps because he was in a good mood, Bo Suihan noticed Wu Xiaojiu’s uneasy expression.
But the other person, trembling, pointed at the wall.

That night, Wu Xiaojiu didn’t get any sleep after all.

Wu Xiaojiu reported it to the police.

When the police heard there had been a murder, they immediately rushed to the scene overnight.

Not only did they send dozens of officers, but they also brought a Chinese Detective who had just recently returned from Country M.

Several people arrived quickly at the scene, staring at the head in bewilderment.

The hired detective looked at the head with some curiosity:

“The marks on this head are actually the same as those on the Headless Corpse from this morning.”

Wu Xiaojiu, not understanding, responded naturally, “Since there’s a previously reported Headless Corpse, as long as DNA Matching confirms a match with this head, wouldn’t the truth be clear?”

The detective was still stunned.

He forced a grotesque, tearless smile, baring his teeth.

He said to Wu Xiaojiu, “Yeah, if things were really that simple, that’d be nice. But the thing is, the Headless Corpse had its head identified just a few days ago and was stitched back onto the corpse and buried in a coffin.”

“Tsk!” The old police officer glared at the detective, his expression making it clear that this was a matter of great importance and nothing could be revealed to Wu Xiaojiu and his companion.

“You two, along with that patient in the bed, please step aside for now. This is serious, and we police need to seal off the scene.”

The old police officer, afraid the detective might say more than he should, quickly ushered Wu Xiaojiu and his companion out.

But just as the two had been sent out, the detective who had just let something slip came running after them.

He stood with them in a corner, fished out a cigarette, and managed to light it.

Then, ignoring Wu Xiaojiu and the other’s expressions, he continued speaking to himself:

“This is just too strange! It’s exactly the same as the Bo Family massacre ten years ago!”

“But the most important thing is, I know this head. Judging by its age and how long it’s been sitting, it should be the head from the Headless Corpse case a few days ago. But here’s the weird part.”

“A couple of days ago, someone turned in an identical head to the corpse’s family. The family already stitched the head back onto the corpse and buried it. And now, out of nowhere, another head just like it shows up!”

Two heads.

Exactly the same.

One corpse.

Wu Xiaojiu’s brows furrowed sharply.

“Unless the corpse was a two-headed person, how could there possibly be two heads in the world that are exactly the same, without the slightest difference?”

The detective spread his hands, his face filled with helplessness and shock.

“Why are you telling us all this? We’re just ordinary citizens who reported the case.”

Before Wu Xiaojiu could speak, Bo Suihan spoke up first.

He was standing at the entrance to the hospital’s emergency passage, hands in his pockets, half-upright, head slightly tilted.

The emergency passage of the hospital was very dark.

Only his eyes were shining.

His expression was unclear, but his gaze remained fixed on Wu Xiaojiu and the detective from beginning to end.

“I’m frustrated. I’m a Chinese Detective just back from Country M, and when I was brought in, I took over that case. If there really is a mistake, my reputation in the field will take a serious hit.”

As the detective spoke, it seemed the people inside heard something- the old police officer called out to him.

He immediately straightened up, slipped a postcard into Wu Xiaojiu’s hand, and as he turned to leave, reminded them:

“I see you’re the first to discover that head. Maybe you have a clue. My phone number is on here. If you want to know more about this, just call.”
