She looked as filthy as a beggar, her face caked in grime as she stared numbly at the slaughter unfolding before her.
“Get lost!”
Faced with the ferocious Gu Weizhi, she showed no fear. Instead, she puffed out her cheeks and blew hard on the whistle in her mouth.
Ever since she had lost her mind, she had been searching the reed marshes for the killer.

Her crazed eyes were now incredibly clear.
Facing the killer as he closed in step by step, she neither fled nor retreated. She blew the whistle until her face turned beet red, as if she were pouring every ounce of strength she had left in this life into it.
Night birds took flight in alarm.
The thunderous blast of the whistle pierced through eardrums, swept across the reed marshes, and soared toward the village, reaching the ears of the police patrolling nearby.
In the distance, lights flickered on, followed by the frantic sound of approaching footsteps.
