“If you’re just going to dump Yangyang on your mother, I’ll consider filing for a change of custody.”
Upon learning that my mother was helping me with the child, Liang Xu’s brow furrowed, making no effort to hide his displeasure.
“Fine by me,”
I replied without a moment’s hesitation.
Liang Xu froze.
At that moment, his young girlfriend walked over and intimately linked her arm with his.
“Sister, the child is still so small. It’s probably better for him to stay by his mother’s side.”
I saw right through the girl’s underlying tension and gave a knowing smile.
“I’m not abandoning him. The new place I rented is in the same residential complex as my mother’s. Is there anything else?”
Liang Xu’s lips thinned into a hard line as the girl clung tighter to his arm.
“Liang Xu, it’s a bit cold out here. Let’s go home.”
Seeing that he wasn’t responding, the girl began to wheedle.
“I’m so hungry. Can you make me some noodles?”
I pulled my suitcase along, leaving their conversation behind as I walked further and further away.
