Chapter 3
Deaf Granny breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this.
With Old Li wielding that blade, even if the woman truly turned into a vengeful spirit, the two of them could at least hold her off for a while!
But when Deaf Granny turned her gaze toward the woman’s abdomen, she couldn’t help but let out a cry of alarm.
“Heaven help us! How could I run into such a foul sorcery? A Womb-Shifting Evil Fetus!”
“In this modern age of peace, with the True Dragon sitting in the hall…”
“The person using this evil art to harm people-aren’t they afraid of being struck down by divine lightning?”
Old Li looked over at the sound of her voice.
He saw a long wound on the woman’s abdomen, with black blood bubbling and seeping out of it incessantly.
Most bizarrely, the wound wasn’t closed with needle and thread.
Instead, a centipede as thick as a thumb and as long as a palm was biting down on it!
The centipede clamped onto one end of the wound, its many legs gripping the flesh tightly.
Only because of this did the woman’s belly not burst open!
Seeing that it had been discovered, the terrifying centipede suddenly leapt up, aiming straight for Deaf Granny’s mouth.
Fortunately, Old Li was still strong and agile for his age. He drew the great cleaver from behind his back and swatted it hard.
“Vile beast, how dare you try to harm someone!”
The fierce centipede was struck mid-air. As if hit by a bolt of lightning, it curled up on the snow, twitching uncontrollably.
Old Li raised his blade to strike again, but Deaf Granny stopped him.
“Old Li, don’t be impulsive! This beast might be useful in a moment!”
Deaf Granny had Wang San bring a gourd and stuffed the centipede inside.
Without the centipede’s restraint, the incision on the woman’s abdomen immediately burst open.
Wrapped in black blood, an infant slid out.
Old Li hurried to pick up the child and examined it closely.
Though its breath was weak and it didn’t cry or make a sound, it was at least still alive!
Deaf Granny took the child and placed it in the warm water she had prepared to wash it.
“Girl, you can go in peace now.”
“The child is alive. I will help you raise him!”
The woman actually struggled to sit up, her eyes streaming tears of blood as she stared fixedly at the newborn infant.
“Child, you must be obedient in the future. Mother is leaving now.”
After saying this, she forced herself to kneel toward Old Li and Deaf Granny.
“I will repay your great kindness in the next life!”
“This jade pendant and gold needle are the child’s ancestral heirlooms. I leave them both to you.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the woman collapsed. It was clear that her obsession had vanished, and her soul had left her body to enter reincarnation.
Old Li sighed. Only after a long silence did he ask:
“Strange. I’ve heard people say that children are connected to their mothers by an umbilical cord.”
“How come this child doesn’t have one?!”
Deaf Granny’s face was full of resentment.
“The child was placed inside this woman’s belly by someone else. How could there be an umbilical cord!”
“This poor girl isn’t the child’s biological mother at all!”
Old Li looked shocked. “There’s such a thing?!”
As Deaf Granny carried the child into the house, she explained to Old Li:
“This is the Womb-Shifting Evil Fetus I mentioned!”
“Only a blood feud of the deepest kind would lead someone to take such revenge!”
“They take a newly formed child from its mother’s womb and, along with Five Poisons Blood, stuff it into the body of a woman born in a Yin Year, Yin Month, Yin Hour.”
“Furthermore, this woman must be a direct relative of the child.”
“Once the child has matured, they torture the woman to death before she can give birth.”
“In this way, both mother and child are lost.”
“The two fierce souls will have a resentment that pierces the heavens, leaving them with no sanity. They only obey the one who cast the spell.”
At this point, Deaf Granny’s anger grew even hotter.
“The child’s biological parents are cursed by this evil sorcery, destined for their entire lineage to be wiped out-not even a chicken or dog will be left!”
“Moreover, they will all become wandering ghosts, and even the Underworld won’t take them!”
“This is even more tragic than the ‘execution of nine generations’ from the old society!”
Just as Deaf Granny was about to carry the infant inside, the Great Seal flew up on its own, blocking the door.
The Immortal-Binding Rope wrote several more crooked characters on the snow:
Extreme Yin Body, Hundred Ghosts Compete for the Corpse!
Deaf Granny let out a cry:
“How can it be this sinister? This is going to be the death of me!!!”
“Sanwa, what time was the child born just now?”
Wang San recalled for a moment and shouted back:
“A bit after eleven, I think. I wasn’t paying much attention!”
Deaf Granny quickly calculated with her fingers, and her face instantly turned pale.
“Yin mother dies, Yin son is born; a hundred ghosts laugh, the living mourn.”
“This child is just like his dead mother-born in a Yin Year, Yin Month, Yin Hour, and it even coincides with the Ghost Festival!”
“We’re in trouble now!”
“Poor me, I’ve spent my whole life doing good deeds, only to be killed by this Doll tonight!”
Old Li was a man of the old guard and didn’t understand these Yin-Yang terms.
However, seeing Deaf Granny’s reaction, he knew the danger hadn’t passed; instead, it had become even more terrifying.
“Deaf Granny, what do you mean by that?!”
Deaf Granny grabbed the Immortal-Binding Rope and held it across her chest, warily scanning the surroundings.
“This little thing that was just born has a true Extreme Yin Body!”
“Not only is he naturally psychic, but if he ever walks the Ghost Path, his progress will be a hundred times faster than an ordinary person’s!”
“As long as he doesn’t die young, becoming a king or a master would be a simple matter!”
Old Li was even more confused.
“Deaf Granny, are you saying this child is going to harm us?”
Deaf Granny shook her head.
“No matter how powerful he becomes, that’s a matter for the future.”
“What we have to deal with right now are the hundred ghosts coming to compete for the corpse.”
“If an evil ghost occupies an Extreme Yin Body, not only will they have a limitless future, they can even skip the entire process of reincarnation!”
“Who wouldn’t be tempted by such a prize?!”
“I’m afraid every filthy thing within a hundred miles will be drawn here!”
Right then, the old-fashioned wall clock inside the house chimed twelve times.
Midnight had arrived.
It was the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month-the Ghost Gate was wide open!
