Chapter 29

After returning home and listening to Hua Jiunan’s account, Deaf Granny felt more and more that something was wrong.

The Chaotic Graveyard had always been peaceful. Though a few wandering ghosts drifted about, there had never been any trouble.

How did so many filthy things suddenly appear?

By the light of the lamp, Deaf Granny carefully examined the iron nail she had removed from Hua Jiunan’s foot.

“A Death Gate Nail!”

“How could it be such a wicked thing!”

The series of events gave Deaf Granny an ominous premonition.

The next day, while offering incense to the Various Altars, she mentioned the situation in passing.

While the other Immortal Spirits didn’t seem to care, it infuriated Hemp-clad Grandmother.

Ghosts, by their very nature, are collections of various negative emotions. Because of this, their personalities are often extreme, cruel, and terrifying.

A Ghost Immortal with successful cultivation like Hemp-clad Grandmother was no different.

“A bunch of little brats actually dare to bully our household!”

“Do they not know that I, Grandmother, sit in this shrine hall?!”

“No, this isn’t over. I’m going to settle the score with them!”

The “them” she referred to were the Yellow Immortal who had bullied Wang San and the crowd of ghosts from the Chaotic Graveyard.

Deaf Granny already felt the Chaotic Graveyard was acting unusual, so now that Hemp-clad Grandmother was taking the lead, she was naturally willing to go and take a look.

That night, she invited Hemp-clad Grandmother to possess her body and headed straight for the Chaotic Graveyard.

But when they arrived, not a single ghostly shadow could be seen.

It was as if they had collectively moved away overnight.

Unable to find the group of ghosts, Hemp-clad Grandmother could only vent her rage on the Yellow Immortal.

Thus, she rode her Ghost Sedan and charged into the mountain forest.

At the same time, the Yellow Immortal Family, who had lost their child, were also searching for the killer.

Ghosts and animal spirits are both incredibly stubborn by nature.

The moment the two sides met, a heated argument broke out.

Hemp-clad Grandmother claimed the Yellow Immortal shouldn’t have bullied Wang San, as it was a slight against her; the Yellow Immortal Family argued that Hemp-clad Grandmother was being a bully. Even if their child had injured Wang San, a simple lesson would have sufficed.

She shouldn’t have killed him and drained all the blood and essence from his body.

Neither side would listen to the other, so they simply started a massive brawl.

Neither noticed the Red-Dressed Female Ghost floating in the distance, laughing with an eerie, sinister cackle.

Deaf Granny realized things were going wrong and hurriedly tried to intervene.

But her human words carried little weight, and both sides remained indifferent.

The Yellow Immortal Family gnashed their teeth in hatred: “This has nothing to do with you, old woman! Once we’ve taught Hemp-clad Grandmother a lesson, we’ll naturally send you back!”

Hemp-clad Grandmother was even more blunt: “Sister, just watch the show. Once I’ve exterminated these few weasels, I’ll use their meat to nourish our Xiao Jiu’s body!”

Left with no choice, Deaf Granny performed another spirit invitation to summon Eighth Master Chang.

After a gust of yin wind, Eighth Master Chang manifested.

“Oh, you old woman, in a situation like this, who do you want me to help?”

“I can’t afford to offend either side!”

Looking at the cowardly Eighth Master Chang, Deaf Granny felt a surge of anger: “Eighth Master Chang, I didn’t ask you to help fight. I invited you here to break up the fight!”

Only then did Eighth Master Chang feel relieved.

“Fine, I’ll give it a try.”

But just as he was about to speak, he was slapped away by Hemp-clad Grandmother.

“Get lost! You’re just getting in the way!”

Eighth Master Chang curled into a dejected ball and complained to Deaf Granny: “It’s all your fault, you old woman!”

“I can’t talk them down!”

“That slap was truly unearned!”

Deaf Granny was as anxious as an ant on a hot griddle; she was in no mood to listen to Eighth Master Chang’s whining.

“Think of something quickly! If this continues, lives will be lost!”

Eighth Master Chang thought darkly to himself: *Lives? Which of these characters is even human?*

However, he only dared to think such things and would never say them aloud to invite another beating.

“What can this Immortal Spirit do!”

“Unless… unless…”

Deaf Granny interrupted him: “Unless what? Just say it!”

Eighth Master Chang muttered in a low voice, “Unless I go get my Big Brother.”

Deaf Granny was utterly speechless at Eighth Master Chang’s personality.

“Then go quickly! If they keep fighting, something terrible will really happen!”

Before Eighth Master Chang could respond, a gust of fishy wind blew against their faces.

A hundred-meter-long Jiao came flying atop a wave of snow.

“Don’t worry, Deaf Granny. This immortal has arrived.”

“Everyone, please stop. This matter is not simple!”

The female ghost hiding in the distance caught sight of the Chang Family Eldest. She shot him a venomous look before vanishing in a flash.

A moment later, the female ghost arrived behind Deaf Granny’s house.

She stared greedily at the shadow of Wang San’s daughter on the window.

The female ghost tried to phase through the wall into the house, but she was repelled by a burst of green light.

With a miserable shriek, she fled in a pathetic state.

In the courtyard, the Green Pine that had grown into a small tree swayed in the wind.

By the time Deaf Granny returned home, dawn was nearly breaking.

The voice of the Qingfeng Hall Beheaded Ghost echoed in her ear:

“In the middle of the night, a filthy thing came to the house. It was after Xiao Yue.”

“It was driven away by Elder Pine.”

Xiao Yue was Wang San’s daughter. Her full name was Wang Qianyue, and she was already ten years old.

She had grown to be as delicate and beautiful as someone from a painting.

Hearing this, Deaf Granny was both shocked and terrified.

She was terrified that her granddaughter had been in danger, and shocked that a mere ten-year-old child would attract such filthy things!

Hemp-clad Grandmother, who was already full of rage, laughed out of sheer fury upon hearing the news: “Jie jie jie! What has the world come to these days?”

“What kind of ghostly trash dares to bully me, Grandmother?!”

“Just you wait. Even if I have to dig three feet into the earth, I will find her!”

With that, Hemp-clad Grandmother whistled and flew off into the mountains.
