Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Seeing that Chief Zhou was about to be killed, Deaf Granny was naturally anxious.
She took out the Mountain-Opening Wood that had been enshrined before the altar and pressed it down onto the Iron Coffin.
Then, she bit the tip of her tongue and spat out a mouthful of essence blood.
As the essence blood stained the Mountain-Opening Wood, it began to emit bursts of red light.
Deaf Granny raised her left hand high and slammed it down heavily onto the Mountain-Opening Wood.
A muffled boom echoed from within the Iron Coffin.
Immediately after, the female ghost and Chief Zhou screamed simultaneously.
Deaf Granny’s eyes bulged with fury.
“You beast! If you don’t come out now, this old woman will risk her life to strike you dead with Blood Thunder!”
The female ghost let out a shrill, eerie laugh.
“Strike me dead? Then this man can forget about living!”
Helpless, Deaf Granny began to curse loudly.
“You unchaste, shameless thing! This old woman will definitely exorcise you today!”
She closed her eyes tightly, her hands forming a strange hand seal, and stomped her foot three times on the ground.
“I summon Eighth Master Chang!”
A cold wind howled, and Deaf Granny’s eyes turned green, her pupils narrowing into vertical slits.
The resentful voice of the spirit medium, Eighth Master Chang, drifted out from within Deaf Granny’s body.
“Didn’t we agree not to meddle in others’ business? Why are you summoning me again, you old hag?!”
“I can’t afford to provoke the thing that crawled out of that Iron Coffin!”
“For the sake of our decades of friendship, let me just take you all and run!”
Deaf Granny hurried to stop him.
“Eighth Master Chang, your disciple doesn’t need you to fight this filthy thing to the death.”
“I only need you to push open the Iron Coffin and save the person inside!”
Seeing that Eighth Master Chang was still hesitating and unwilling to agree, Deaf Granny added more to her plea.
“This beast’s flesh corpse has already been burned by your disciple; more than half of its cultivation is gone.”
“As long as you save the man inside, this old woman will have a temple built for you and set up a longevity tablet!”
Why did animal practitioners become spirit mediums?
Was it not to accumulate karmic merit and enjoy the offerings of incense?
As the saying goes:
Man fights for a breath of air; Buddha fights for a stick of incense.
This was even more true for a spirit medium.
If a temple were truly built and the whole village worshipped him, Eighth Master Chang’s future path of cultivation would be much smoother.
At the very least, he would no longer be the one at the bottom among all the brothers of his generation.
“Old woman, do you keep your word?”
“Eighth Master Chang, we’ve known each other for decades. When has your disciple ever lied to you!”
Having received a definite answer, Eighth Master Chang suddenly perked up.
“In that case, I’ll risk it all today!”
However, before Eighth Master Chang could make a move, a miserable howl erupted from the female ghost inside the Iron Coffin.
Then, the coffin lid blew off, and Chief Zhou came tumbling out.
Fortunately, Eighth Master Chang reacted quickly, taking Old Li and dodging just in time.
Otherwise, if he had been hit by that coffin lid, the Old Master would have lost half his life even if he didn’t die.
The three of them stood closely together, watching the female ghost as she wailed in agony on the snow ahead.
Confused, Deaf Granny asked, “What happened to that beast?”
“What just happened?”
Chief Zhou, a northern man in his forties, turned red in an instant.
Embarrassed, he held up his trousers with one hand while stammering, “Before that filthy thing dragged me in, I took advantage of her distraction and put black dog blood and incense ash in my mouth.”
“When she tried to bite my mouth, I spat it all into hers.”
The three of them knew exactly what kind of creature the female ghost was.
If Chief Zhou said she was biting his mouth, then she was biting his mouth…
Pointing it out would only make everyone more embarrassed.
Old Li hesitated for a moment before asking, “Comrade Xiao Zhou, you… you didn’t lose anything important, did you?!”
Hearing this, Chief Zhou’s face turned even redder.
“I promise the organization, I, Zhou Limin, am still pure…”
Deaf Granny gave Old Li an annoyed glare.
“You old fool, what time do you think it is? Stop being so indecent!”
Old Li also realized his question was a bit inappropriate. He chuckled awkwardly and fell silent.
The ever-so-lucid Eighth Master Chang felt quite helpless and took the initiative to bring the topic back.
“We should take this chance to run!”
“Once this thing recovers, I’m not sure I can handle her!”
“Run? None of you are going anywhere!”
The female ghost flew into the air, her face full of malice, her foul-smelling, greasy hair fluttering in the wind.
However, after swallowing the black dog blood and incense ash, her body had begun to turn translucent.
“Everyone, be careful!”
Deaf Granny held the Mountain-Opening Wood warily, staring fixedly at the female ghost.
With a sharp shriek from the female ghost, the Iron Coffin suddenly flew up and smashed toward the three of them.
The consequences of being hit by a massive object weighing hundreds or even thousands of pounds were obvious.
The three of them scrambled to dodge in a disheveled state.
Taking advantage of the chaos, the female ghost suddenly appeared behind Chief Zhou. She opened her mouth, which was dripping with black water, and lunged to bite his neck.
Clearly, she hated this man who had severely injured her with all her heart.
Deaf Granny, possessed by the Immortal Spirits, had the fastest reaction. She shoved Chief Zhou aside.
However, a chunk of flesh was bitten off her own arm by the female ghost.
Under the intense pain, Eighth Master Chang and Deaf Granny cried out in agony together.
Seeing that the female ghost was still so ferocious, Eighth Master Chang’s heart was in turmoil.
He wanted to run, but he was worried that if he did, Deaf Granny’s promise to build a temple would be voided.
After all, the kid named Zhou had escaped the Iron Coffin on his own; he, Chang Ba, hadn’t helped at all.
But if he didn’t run, he truly lacked the courage to face such a fierce, evil ghost.
While Deaf Granny and the others were falling into a crisis, the young Hua Jiunan also encountered danger.
