My heart ached as if it were being violently torn apart. I don’t even know how I found the strength to keep scrolling.
When I reached one particular chat log, my fingers froze.
A week ago, Chen Jia had sent him a picture of a Ragdoll cat:
“Our son is getting cuter and cuter by the day, lol.”
He had replied with a simple, “Yeah.”
And then, he had changed his lock screen to the Ragdoll they used to raise together.
My mind went completely blank. I didn’t even notice someone approaching until the phone was forcefully snatched from my hand.
Song Huai looked down at me, his face grim and his voice several degrees colder. “Did you take my phone on purpose?”
I stared into those eyes-eyes that were so familiar yet felt so foreign. The nerves I had kept taut for so long finally snapped.
“What about you? Aren’t you going to explain?”
“When you two kissed just now, you said it was just a game. What about these chat logs?”
“And this wallpaper… It was supposed to be a photo of Gungun. Why did you change it to the picture she sent you?”
I pointed at his phone with a trembling finger, my voice nearly hoarse.
Even with the facts laid bare before me, I still wanted to hear his explanation.
But he said nothing. He simply darkened the screen and stared at me expressionlessly.
He had always been an expert at silence.
