Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Today is the night before my wedding to Song Huai.
His ex, Chen Jia, had insisted on joining a group of old classmates to come and offer us their congratulations.
The moment I pushed the door open, I saw Chen Jia standing on her tiptoes, pressing her lips against Song Huai’s.
Song Huai didn’t push her away.
In fact, when she nearly lost her balance, he reached out and steadied her by the waist.
It was a gentle gesture, a stark contrast to the coldness he had shown me over the past few days.
His old classmates were cheering and jeering around them, as if they were long accustomed to such a scene. Their reactions were practiced and natural.
The noise was grating, like a hand tightening around my throat, making it nearly impossible to breathe.
“Zhou Shi?” someone called out when they saw me walk in.
The words were abrupt.
Not only did it successfully separate the two, but it also caused everyone in the room to turn their heads toward me in unison.
“Ah!” Chen Jia let out an exaggerated gasp.
She hurried over to me, her face still flushed with a lingering blush. “We were just playing Truth or Dare, and Song Huai and I lost. Don’t get the wrong idea.”
I looked at her in disbelief.
I had stepped out earlier to handle something. On my way back, I suddenly received a WeChat friend request from someone identifying herself as Chen Jia.
As soon as I accepted, she sent an intimate photo of herself and Song Huai.
“Guess what he and I are doing right now?”
She unsent the message a second later, then followed up nonchalantly with: “Happy wedding.”
Now, she was explaining herself with such poise and transparency, as if she wasn’t the one who had just sent me that provocative message.
Instead, it made me look like the one who was overreacting and being unreasonable.

The Text That Cancelled My Wedding
I picked up my boyfriend’s phone by mistake, only to see a message his ex had just sent: “I forgot to take the morning-after pill that night.”
Those few short words left me...
