Chapter 7
“What a coincidence. I fell in love with Miss Wu at first sight too.”
Xiao Wang laughed above my head.
I was still flushed with excitement when he added, “But on the first day on the cruise, I think I saw Miss Wu with a man next to her.”
Guo Bin loves groping me in public the most. Xiao Wang must have seen him already.
But if the Sea Queen can’t even smooth over something this small, wouldn’t that title be a joke?
I pressed my lips over Xiao Wang’s. “You call him a man? Next to you, he doesn’t even count as one.”
That’s the one thing men can’t stand hearing, especially in bed.
Xiao Wang got turned on by my teasing again, and we had another wild round.
“Oh, youth.”
It was late at night by the time I finally walked out of Xiao Wang’s room, face flushed, thoroughly satisfied.
My legs were so weak my shoes weren’t even on properly. I took a few steps, then crouched down to fix them.
As I straightened up, I ran right into Xiao Chen.
“You live over here?” She smiled at me and opened the door to the room next door. “I’m here too. Come in and sit for a bit.”
Damn.
This was the far west side of Deck 2, but my actual cabin was on the far east side of Deck 4.
There were still more than twenty days left on this trip. No way I could keep this from coming out.
I went into Xiao Chen’s room, already working through countermeasures in my head.
Her room was very neat, and she hadn’t brought much.
One glance around at her luggage told me Xiao Chen wasn’t doing too well financially.
Makes sense. Her cruise ticket was from a raffle.
With a rough idea of her situation now, I chatted and played along with her like usual.
Xiao Chen dug a set of tarot cards out of her suitcase, said she’d been thinking about using them to make a living lately, and invited me to try a reading.
The sight of the tarot cards made my heart jolt.
Before getting on the ship, I’d played with tarot once too.
I’d run into a one‑eyed old woman on the side of the road, her appearance downright eerie.
She’d blocked my way without a word and insisted I draw a card.
I’d figured she was just another scammer trying to use this as an excuse to extort money, so I waved her off and left, accidentally scattering a few cards onto the ground.
The old woman shouted after me, “I saw your death!”
I knew nothing about tarot, so this was the perfect chance to ask Xiao Chen.
“Do you think those cards I knocked to the ground were all Death?”
Xiao Chen just laughed. “Death in tarot doesn’t necessarily mean literal death. It’s more about the end of a relationship, or some kind of unexpected event.”
She gestured for me to draw. “Tarot can’t predict things too far in the future. Is there anything coming up you want to ask about?”
I shook my head. “I don’t want to play.”
