Full of questions, I went to find Xiao Chen.

“That SKP card he gave us is fake.” Xiao Chen tossed the card against my chest.

“What are you talking about? It shows the balance on it, and you can check it by scanning the code.”

The day I got it, I’d checked the balance myself. It showed thirty thousand-down to the last cent.

“A scammer’s QR code can do that.”

“I asked a friend who works at SKP. They’ve never issued a card like this.”

“Think about it-we’re on a cruise. For this whole month, there’s no way for us to verify whether it’s real or fake.”

Under Xiao Chen’s rapid-fire barrage, I hesitated. “Maybe someone gave it to him? Maybe he doesn’t even know it’s fake?”

I rubbed the shopping card in my hand, trying to make excuses for Xiao Wang.

Xiao Chen let out a cold laugh. “Even if that were true, it still proves Xiao Wang is a fake rich guy.”

“And let me tell you something else. That day, he was on his phone in front of me. I glanced at his screen-he was using some loan app.”

“So honestly, stop wasting your effort.”

My temper flared.

These past few days, Xiao Chen had at least been loyal.

After taking my money, she hadn’t told Guo Bin about me and Xiao Wang.

But that didn’t mean she hadn’t gotten ideas about Xiao Wang.

Maybe she was just trying to bait me with all this.

The trip was almost over anyway. There was no need for me to keep pretending we were besties made of plastic. I snorted, turned, and walked off.

But it would be a lie to say I didn’t believe her at all.

I leaned against the side of the cruise ship, thinking.

Right-if the Wheelchair Old Man really was a famous designer, I should be able to look him up.

And if Xiao Wang was his relative, there was no way his finances would be that bad.

I pulled out my phone, but the internet was crawling. It wouldn’t connect no matter how long I waited.

Fuming, I stuffed my phone back into my bag-and the moment I turned around, I bumped straight into someone.

The person was holding a slice of cake from the buffet, eating as they walked.

Great. It all smashed right onto me.

When I looked up, it was the same auntie from the first day-the one who’d gone crazy ordering food at the buffet.

Only this time, there was an uncle holding her arm, probably her husband.

Before I could even speak, the auntie shrieked at me, “Young lady, do you not watch where you’re going?”
