He stood in front of Song Jiaojiao, shielding her, and looked at me coldly: “Is this never going to end? Bullying her once or twice wasn’t enough? Try touching her again and see what happens.”

“Apologize to Jiaojiao.”

I opened my mouth, but before I could curse him, tears were already falling.

I bit my lip hard and pushed them toward the door: “Get out! All of you, get out!”

I slammed the door shut, crouched behind it, and broke down in sobs.

Not long after, the door was forcefully pushed open. Lin Yuezhou rushed in, panic on his face, gripping my shoulders and examining me carefully:

“You got hurt and didn’t tell me?”

He took ointment out of his pocket and gently applied it to me.

I shoved him away, snatched the ointment, and threw it at his head:

“I don’t need your fake concern.”

“You’re my wife. How is it fake concern for me to care about you?”

“I told you I want a divorce. Don’t you understand?”

He looked hurt and shouted at me, but when he saw my icy gaze, he was completely baffled:

“Just because I helped Song Jiaojiao with some medicine, you insist on divorcing me?”

“Fine, I was wrong about that. I didn’t consider your feelings. I apologize. What else do you want? From now on, I’ll keep my distance from Song Jiaojiao, okay?”

The more he spoke, the angrier he got. Finally, he punched the bathroom door hard, his hand instantly turning bruised and purple.

I looked at his furious face in the mirror.

Suddenly, I realized that after all these years, I never really understood him.

He thought that as long as I didn’t see him and Song Jiaojiao in bed with my own eyes, he could act like nothing happened, standing on the moral high ground and accusing me of making a fuss over nothing.

He just wanted me to give in, to keep pretending I knew nothing and keep loving him.

My body couldn’t stop trembling, and tears fell uncontrollably.

Lin Yuezhou softened his expression, raised his hand to wipe away my tears, and spoke gently:

“Enough, Xiao Li. We’ve been together for so many years-we’re the most important people in each other’s lives.”

“Please don’t talk about divorce and hurt me anymore, okay?”

“This time it was my fault. I promise it won’t happen again, alright?”

He was always like this-giving a slap, then offering something sweet as a consolation.

Every time he did this, I couldn’t do anything about him.

But this time, it didn’t work.

I looked up at him through my tears:

“Lin Yuezhou, if within a week Song Jiaojiao contacts you and you don’t contact her at all, I won’t mention divorce again.”

A smile appeared on his face: “Is it really that simple?”

I nodded. Yes, it’s very simple.

But I knew he couldn’t do it.
