Lin Yuezhou was stunned for a moment, lowered his eyes to avoid mine, and nodded.

I took out my phone, opened Song Jiaojiao’s Weibo, and laid out in front of him the photo she had posted of their kiss under the aurora, along with all the little moments she had recorded:

“Lin Yuezhou, do you think I’m especially foolish in your heart?”

“Do you know how happy I was when I saw the two plane tickets you hid in the drawer on our seventh anniversary? I thought you wanted to surprise me, but I never expected it to be such a huge deception.”

“When you kissed her under the aurora, what were you thinking? Did you remember that the destination we chose for our honeymoon was Iceland? Back then you said you were busy-were you really busy, or were you just going to see the aurora with the girl you loved most at eighteen?”

“You’ve always had her in your heart, so why did you come back to find me the year you graduated from college? You knew I liked you all along, suddenly cut off contact, then suddenly came back and asked if I wanted to be together-what did you take me for? A backup?”

My vision blurred as I stared at him, the dull ache in my chest turning into a sharp knife twisting inside me. All the heartbreak and sorrow of these years surged up like a tide in this moment, so painful I could hardly breathe.

Lin Yuezhou’s face drained of color. He parted his lips, but couldn’t utter a single word in rebuttal.

He looked at me, his eyes filled with endless pain, guilt, and regret:

“No, Xiao Li… I love you. Song Jiaojiao was just the unwillingness of my youth. Now I am absolutely certain the one I love is you. Can you give me one more chance to make it up to you?”

He looked at me almost humbly, his eyes full of pleading.

Proud as he was, this was the first time he bowed his head for me.

But it was too late.

I looked at him calmly and smiled softly:

“But I don’t love you anymore.”
