Chapter 6

There is one major advantage to living a long life: you know a vast number of Cultivation Methods.

I transcribed a formation-based Cultivation Method suitable for Eldest Senior Sister and quietly left it by her bedside.

As I was leaving, I saw Little Junior Sister standing silently outside Eldest Senior Sister’s abode.

She was clutching a shimmering, radiant dress, her figure looking desolate. She looked like she wanted to go in but didn’t dare to.

I patted Fubao’s head and quietly slipped away.

Go on, go on. Everyone has to learn to grow up on their own.

Time turned like a wheel; spring departed and autumn arrived.

One day, Eldest Senior Sister came to my abode with a light step. Opening her palm, she showed me the wooden puppet I had given her. It had been newly inscribed with formations.

“Second Junior Sister, look! I’ve finished it.”

“Eldest Senior Sister, you’re amazing! Where did you learn these formations? How did you do it?”

She excitedly told me how she had suddenly come across a manual for a formation-based Cultivation Method. The method was excellent, and through diligent practice, she had finally mastered it.

Of course, she had encountered some problems along the way, but she had found ways to solve them one by one.

She spoke with great enthusiasm, while Fubao and I listened with constant wonder.

This is what it means to be a Prodigy-her ability to teach herself and her speed of cultivation were both far beyond others.

After Eldest Senior Sister finished her explanation, her face flushed with a bit of embarrassment.

“I was just so happy today that I got carried away talking about myself…”

I quickly replied, “No, no, Eldest Senior Sister, we love listening to you. I’ve actually benefited quite a bit. It just so happens I have some points of confusion regarding formations that I’d like to ask you about.”

Fubao tilted its head in confusion. “Eh?”

I pushed the dog’s head down and earnestly asked a few questions.

Eldest Senior Sister taught me very carefully. If there was something she didn’t know, she would make a note of it, go back to consult her books, and then return to teach me once she had mastered it herself.

As our different ideas clashed and merged, I felt many new insights stirring within me, and my own understanding of formations deepened further.

As time flew by, Eldest Senior Sister visited me more and more frequently, while the time she spent with Mu Qingyang and the others grew less and less.

Finally, one day, Mu Qingyang arrived right on the heels of Eldest Senior Sister’s visit.

He gave me a nod before grabbing Eldest Senior Sister’s arm, saying he had something to discuss.

Eldest Senior Sister shook off his grip and walked to the other side with a serious expression.

They were quite a distance away and deliberately lowered their voices.

But who am I?

I am the future Sect Ancestor! A distance like this is child’s play to me.

I fed the chickens and ducks while eavesdropping on the gossip, occasionally pressing down on Fubao’s head.

Little dummy, if you listen that intently, you’ll get caught. It’s better to use some fake movements as a cover.

Fubao took the hint, lowering its head to pull at the grass with its mouth, occasionally using a paw to wipe its muzzle. Its acting was quite professional.

Good boy. A dog worth teaching.

Mu Qingyang was suppressing his fury. “What is wrong with you lately? Why have you been avoiding me? Are you still angry about what happened last time? But that was your Little Junior Sister’s doing, not mine.”

Eldest Senior Sister said coldly, “Correct, she is my Junior Sister. So why are you the one getting so worked up?”

Mu Qingyang was left speechless, his frustration turning into exasperation.

“Fine, consider it my business for meddling. In the future, even if your Little Junior Sister dies in a Secret Realm, it will have nothing to do with me. Even if you beg me, I won’t go.”

Eldest Senior Sister was so angry her voice trembled.

“I didn’t mean it like that. I just feel that the way you’re acting makes me very uncomfortable.”

Mu Qingyang interrupted her. “And I don’t know how to make you comfortable! You always look like I’ve upset you. I don’t even know what I did wrong. Why can’t you be like Little Junior Sister-always speaking kindly and being happy every day? Why is being with you always such a struggle?!”
