Chapter 2
Chapter 2
The day before yesterday, I got bitten by a dog while drinking. Yesterday, I ran into my ex-boyfriend while getting my vaccine at the hospital.
And today, I have to move.
After working for ages, I finally managed to get most of the scattered boxes moved upstairs.
I offered the driver I hired an ice-cold Coke, but he turned me down.
“Oh, no thanks, little lady. I’m really not used to this stuff. It’s too sweet.”
Too sweet.
I remembered back when I was with Yu Yang; he always complained about my love for sweets too.
That made me think of the tattoo on my thigh.
I had already made an appointment to get it removed long ago.
But laser removal hurts so much.
And I’m afraid of pain.
“Fuck, what kind of rotten luck is this?”
I locked eyes with the man who had just pulled open his door, thinking to myself: how is his temper still this bad?
It was just that his face was still as handsome as ever-even when he was angry.
“Yu Yang, I think it’s unfortunate too. We’re neighbors now.”
I looked up at him. He gripped the doorframe and looked down at me.
“Unfortunate my…”
The rest of the curses didn’t quite make it out.
I held up the bag of handmade cookies in my hand. I’d made them for my neighbors as a moving-in gift.
I thought he wouldn’t want them.
Instead, his long, well-defined fingers unceremoniously snatched the bag from my hand.
There was a strange, aggressive look in his eyes as he stared at me.
“What? Everyone else gets some, but I can’t?”
“…”
I stayed silent for a long while until he slammed the door shut.
It seemed that two or three years in the professional world hadn’t softened his bizarre temper one bit.
Actually, thinking back, my first meeting with Yu Yang wasn’t exactly a great start either.
In university, I was standing in front of him in the cafeteria line.
You know how the cafeteria ladies’ hands always shake? Half the scoop leaked right back into the tray.
I said, “Ma’am, you need to give me a bit more.”
The lady must have been in a bad mood that day. She rolled her eyes at me and said everyone got the same amount.
What she didn’t know was that not only was I in a bad mood, I was also starving.
Unfortunately, people tend to go a little crazy when they’re hungry.
I stuck my head right through the serving window and took a bite straight off her large serving spoon.
In that moment, it wasn’t just the lady who froze.
Everyone within a five-mile radius froze.
…And Yu Yang was standing right behind me.
He said I must be a psychopath, and if it weren’t for the fact that I didn’t fit his research topic, he would definitely have conducted a thorough study on me.
