chapter 3
Panting, I finally made it to the classroom just before the bell rang, then collapsed onto my seat in the last row and began to take deep breaths.
Lu Xiuqi lifted his eyelids and glanced at me, then quickly turned away and lay down on his desk to sleep.
No one in the class really liked Liu Qingqing, so the Homeroom Teacher had placed her next to the trash can, in the very last row of the classroom.
Jiangnan High School was the best high school in our city, and its students were either wealthy or privileged.
But Lu Xiuqi was admitted through a sports scholarship, and like Liu Qingqing, came from a poor family.
So, naturally, the worst seats in the class were reserved for the two of them.
The two usually kept to themselves-one sleeping, the other daydreaming-never interfering with each other.
But my arrival had clearly disturbed the peace between them.
“Lu Xiuqi, want some eggs?”
I pulled two eggs out of my pocket and handed them to Lu Xiuqi, placing a carton of milk on his desk as well.
Since I’d decided to lose weight, I had to start with my diet.
Liu Qingqing’s family wasn’t well-off, but her parents doted on her, scrimping and saving so they could spend everything on her.
Liu Qingqing had a big appetite-just for breakfast, she’d eat five or six eggs, two cartons of milk, and four or five buns.
Lu Xiuqi turned to study me for a moment, then let out a snort. “Liu Qingqing, you don’t like me, do you?”
I stared at him, speechless.
Lu Xiuqi and Shen Beichen were known among the girls at school as the Twin Stars of Nan High, and people often argued over which of them was more handsome.
Unlike Shen Beichen’s gentle, refined looks, Lu Xiuqi was full of rebellious energy-his eyebrows were bold, his nose was high, and his skin was a warm tan.
He was undeniably handsome, but that handsomeness, combined with his unruly aura, made him seem a bit roguish.
