Chapter 3
“What do you mean by that?”
Xu Jing’an stood up.
“I said, let’s break up.”
Feng Yi whispered, “Is she… not cured yet?”
Xu Jing’an’s brow furrowed.
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his arms, his other hand resting firmly on my waist.
The physiological reaction hit me instantly.
From my stomach to my throat, I began to convulse uncontrollably.
I shoved him away with all my might. In the brief moment it took to cover my mouth, vomit had already seeped through my fingers and onto the carpet.
Everyone was stunned.
Including Xu Jing’an himself.
Only I was used to it. I pulled out a few tissues and wiped my fingers clean.
“Are you satisfied now?”
Xu Jing’an’s expression grew even darker.
“You can’t even handle normal contact with a man, and yet you still want to break up with me?”
“Yes. Even so, I’m ending it.”
I turned to leave.
This time, Xu Jing’an didn’t stop me.
Perhaps because I had passed his physical ‘test,’ his mood had stabilized.
“Shi Wan, no one else will ever accept you but me.”
“If you walk out that door today, don’t you dare come crawling back!”
I didn’t look back.
I leaned against the hallway wall for support. The lights overhead flickered and swayed; my vision was growing increasingly dizzy.
I realized immediately that there was something wrong with the drink Feng Yi had given me.
Sensing someone following me, I forced myself to stay alert and quickened my pace without showing any outward signs of distress.
Just as I rounded a corner, I crashed into a man’s chest.
I instinctively tried to push him away, but then, I froze.
I waited quietly for a moment.
The physiological rejection didn’t come.
Instead, I felt a wave of relief as the effects of the drug seemed to ease in his presence.
“Shi Wan, how much longer are you going to hold on?”
The man stood against the light, his features carrying a playful, teasing smile.
It was Qin Juan, the Young Master of the Qin Family.
He and Xu Jing’an used to be friends; he had even spoken up for me in the past. I’d heard they had a falling out later on.
Qin Juan reached out to check my forehead.
“Looks like you’ve been drugged. I’ll take you back to Xu Jing’an.”
“No, we broke up,” I said, staring at him, my voice calm. “Besides, he can’t help me.”
Qin Juan tilted his head, smiling at me, his hand hovering supportively behind my waist.
“Then what do you want to do?”
His voice was soft, yet it sounded incredibly seductive to my ears.
Using the last of my strength, I threw my arms around his neck.
My lips brushed against his cheek and slowly came to a stop by his ear.
“Qin Juan… can you handle this?”
A strong grip tightened around my waist.
Qin Juan looked down at me, his gaze dark and meaningful.
“Shi Wan, you didn’t even ask if I was willing before asking if I could handle it?”
“I can’t take it anymore… please.”
