Chapter 3
Qileng Town was decorated with lanterns and streamers, the air thick with the scent of locust blossoms.
Shen Yanlan held my hand as we strolled from the jewelry shop to the silk merchant.
He picked up a roll of moon-white brocade and said with a smile, “This silk is very soft. It would suit Huaiyi well.”

Shen Yanlan gave him a cool, indifferent look.

“You’ve only just arrived,” he said. “I’m afraid you’ll get lost.”
“How could I? It’s not far from the Shen Residence.”
He fell silent for a few seconds before saying in a low voice, “Just consider it me being unable to bear leaving your side. Let me accompany you for a while longer, alright?”
I had no choice but to agree.
Shen Yanlan was always like this-gentle to a fault, making it impossible to refuse him.
