chapter 17
Thanks to the fever, I comfortably lazed around in my room for three days.
But Gu Lin gradually saw through my intention to escape.
He simply dragged me out the door, wanting to take me to the hospital.
“Gu-Gu Lin!”
I clung tightly to the doorframe, solemnly swearing to the heavens:
“I promise I’ll take my medicine on time and do my best to live.”
“Let’s skip the hospital, okay?”
With mid-to-late stage Stomach Cancer, the first step in treatment is Chemotherapy.
Hmm… I’m really not keen.
“Lu, Si, Yuan.”
Gu Lin’s face darkened as he called my name, each word pronounced slowly and clearly.
His arm around my waist tightened.
I simply let go, pressed my palms together, and blinked at him pitifully:
“Please, I really don’t want to go to the hos-”
My words stalled, and my expression suddenly sank.
My gaze passed over Gu Lin’s shoulder.
I looked at the four people standing not far from the doorway.
I didn’t know when they’d arrived, or how long they’d been there.
“Siyuan.”
My mother, looking utterly haggard, stepped forward.
She called my name once, and tears immediately fell:
“We finally found you.”
“The whole family’s been searching frantically for you these past days.”
“Your Eldest Brother and Second Brother are still waiting by the seaside. It’s such a relief you’re okay.”
I pressed my lips together and said nothing.
I only raised my eyes coldly, looking past her.
Lu Jiajia, eyes red, gaze full of guilt and a hint of unease.
My father, his former authority gone, now cautious and timid-he seemed to have aged ten years in just a few days.
And Third Brother, his expression obscure, no longer speaking harshly to me.
All of them were so gentle, as if those words of disgust from three days ago had never come from them.
Oh, I get it now.
So you’ve confirmed I really have Stomach Cancer?
Now, facing life and death, you start to repent?
When I was alive, you didn’t care-distant, cold, and full of disdain.
Now that I’m dying, all that vanishes, and suddenly I’m precious?
Your faces change faster than the weather.
I wanted to throw them a mocking, cold laugh.
But a wave of nausea suddenly surged in my stomach.
The metallic sweetness was uncontrollable. I hurriedly grabbed Gu Lin, bent over, and started retching.
At first, it was just sour bile.
But soon, it was tinged with bright red blood.
