Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I rang the doorbell for a long time at the room number Liang Yansheng had sent me, but no one answered.
I pulled my hand back and leaned against the wall, using my hands to support my bag from underneath.
Inside was a 14-inch laptop, and the weight was making my shoulders ache.
After a while, the door finally opened.
Liang Yansheng was wearing nothing but a bath towel around his waist. His upper body was bare, and droplets of water still trailed down his well-defined chest.
The tall man propped one hand against the doorframe, his brow furrowing slightly. “Why didn’t you just come tomorrow?”
Supporting the bag with both hands, I looked up and whispered, “Sorry, sorry. A bug popped up in the project at the last minute, so I had to work late.”
Liang Yansheng moved his hand and started walking back inside. “How much can that crappy job of yours even pay? You should just quit already.”
I quickly slipped inside before the hotel door could swing shut.
Once inside, I realized something was wrong and froze in my tracks.
Liang Yansheng was staying in a suite, and there was a significant distance from the entrance to the main room.
It wasn’t until I turned the corner that I saw the shredded stockings on the living room sofa, along with underwear scattered on the floor and a thong consisting of only a few thin straps…
I knew Liang Yansheng liked to play around. I knew that during all the years I’d been by his side, he had never stopped seeing other women.
But I always thought that as long as I didn’t see it, it would be fine.
I deliberately avoided any scenes of intimacy between Liang Yansheng and others; if I didn’t see it, I could keep lying to myself.
Like a fish, I always gave myself seven seconds to numb my mind.
I looked at Liang Yansheng. He had been leaning against the bar for who knows how long, watching me.
He held a glass of wine, and the faint sound of running water could still be heard from the nearby bathroom.
There was no panic in his gaze as he looked at me, nor was there any guilt.
“You’re too late,” he shrugged, his voice calm.
I gripped my bag tightly, terrified that if I lost my strength, the laptop would crash to the floor.
A laptop worth over ten thousand yuan had cost me nearly half a month’s salary.
Just as I was about to speak, the bathroom door suddenly opened.
A woman with long, seductive legs emerged, wrapped in a loose bathrobe.
When she saw me, her reaction was indifferent, as if she wasn’t at all surprised to find a third person there.
“Boss Liang-” Her voice was cloying as she pressed against him, revealing a generous amount of skin. “About that endorsement of mine…”
Liang Yansheng stepped back slightly and took a sip of his wine. “Talk to Chen Ming. You can go now.”
The woman said sweetly, “Thank you, Boss Liang!”
By the time she came back out, she was fully dressed.
I stared at her figure and finally remembered who she was-Zhao Tian, a starlet who had been quite popular recently.
As she walked toward the door, I stepped aside slightly.
Perhaps to flatter Liang Yansheng, she suddenly stopped and looked me up and down.
Then, she turned back and smiled. “Boss Liang, you certainly have good taste. Even your assistant has that top-tier ‘pure desire’ look. If she were in the entertainment industry, she’d be a huge hit.”
Liang Yansheng didn’t look up or refute her. He just sounded impatient. “Aren’t you gone yet?”
She slung her bag over her shoulder and swayed her hips happily as she walked out.
Liang Yansheng changed his clothes and walked over, familiarly taking the bag from my hands.
Just like many times before, his expression was natural, as if nothing had happened.
He wrapped an arm around my waist. “Hungry? What do you want for dinner? I’ll take you out in a bit.”
Seeing me still standing there, he raised an eyebrow as if realizing something.
He gave a lazy smile, his fingers tracing circles on my waist. “Not happy? You want it? I’ll have someone open another room next door-”
It had always been like this. I knew. I had always known.
I knew about his philandering, his profligacy.
Yet I had stepped into it without hesitation. I was the one being pathetic; I was the one who handed him the knife.
So, I never blamed anyone, including Liang Yansheng.
I always knew that a day would come when our paths would diverge completely.
But I kept thinking, *just a little longer, just a little longer.*
And now, when that day had finally arrived…
Surprisingly, I didn’t feel any heart-wrenching pain. I only felt relief.
Perhaps it was because this heart had long since been stabbed into numbness.
I pulled Liang Yansheng’s hand away and lowered my eyes as I took back my bag.
“Liang Yansheng, I’m breaking up with you.”
My voice was low, but it was firm, carrying a courage I had never felt before.

The Good Girl’s Dictionary
I was known for being a good girl. During our five years together, no matter how Liang Yansheng played around behind my back, I obediently endured it all.
Until that day, when I found a pair...
