chapter 7
[“Damn, this Streamer’s Live Streaming Room is creepy as hell. I’ve been holding my pee for an hour, I’m about to explode down there.”]
[“Bro upstairs, you’re such a wimp. I just stood up and let it fly out the window. If I don’t care about morals, fear can’t touch me!”]
[“Fuck, so you’re the bastard peeing out the window? I’m downstairs eating hotpot, and you just gave my broth a top-off!”]
[“666, now that’s a special flavor!”]
[@Li Yi, Streamer, I had a buddy at Qingshan Hospital who was into exploring too. One night, he snuck into Qingshan Hospital alone and stayed there for most of the night without anything weird happening. But just as he was about to leave for the bathroom, footsteps suddenly came closer, and someone entered the stall next to him. According to my friend, he snuck a peek underneath-and there were no feet.”]
[“At this point, some macho dude just buried his head under his blanket.”]
[“Why do you say ‘used to be a friend’?”] a viewer asked, confused.
[“Because after he came back, his comments in the Live Streaming Room just kept getting weirder. Everyone says you can use the comments for protection after a scary encounter, but Li Yi feels like his viewers are just here to fan the flames.”]
He swallowed. Honestly, he was feeling a bit hungry.
As for being scared?
Come on, can you really scare a guy with a Sage’s Heart?
The System rated this Side Quest as simple, which means the difficulty should be about the same as what he faced in the apartment building before.
At least there shouldn’t be any danger to his life.
Anyway, in the quest, the Place of Grains Reincarnation in the living world is connected to another world-in other words, the bathroom is the entrance to hell.
So does that mean every time he goes to the bathroom, he’s… sending something to hell?
No, no, he was just overthinking it.
“Guys, even though I used to work here, as for this-”
[“Relax, Streamer, most people couldn’t copy you if they tried. If someone weird did, they’re probably already chilling in the underworld.”]
[“Come on, have a little sympathy. Streamer, keep it up, I’m rooting for you. Next Qingming Festival, I’ll burn you a few foreign babes. Promise me you’ll stay this awesome even in the afterlife.”]
Soon, Li Yi arrived at the abandoned floor that had been sealed off for years.
In the corridor, he found a photo taped to the wall.
“The prisoners once held here all perished in a fire. But before the accident, they took this group photo. Everyone, count how many people are in it.”
[“Come on, Streamer, quit trying to trick us. It says under the photo-fifteen people in total.”]
“Right, back then, there were fifteen patients on this floor,” Li Yi nodded, “But the photo actually shows sixteen people.”
[“Damn, Streamer, could you not scare us in the middle of the night?”]
[“Hiss, I counted-there really are sixteen figures. The Streamer’s telling the truth.”]
[“Maybe the extra person was a caretaker?”]
“No, the caretaker was the one taking the photo.” Li Yi shut that down, and everyone in the Live Streaming Room sucked in a cold breath.
Tonight, the hospital felt extra off. On his way here, he hadn’t seen a single patient, and the night-shift doctors were nowhere to be found.
It was totally out of step with the ‘bustle’ outside-the people inside seemed to have all vanished.
Were they hiding?
Li Yi frowned and pushed open the emergency exit door.
“That group photo was to document the daily life of patients at Qingshan Hospital. It was also used for identification, so caretakers would never be in it. That means the extra person definitely wasn’t hospital staff.”
Li Yi took out his flashlight, the dim beam lighting the way ahead.
He used to worry the viewers in the Live Streaming Room wouldn’t see things clearly, but the System’s broadcast was even clearer than his own eyes.
“When people saw this photo, most thought it was just a patient from another floor sneaking in. But the hospital checked every record and still couldn’t figure out who that person was.”
“It was like someone appeared out of nowhere-and then vanished without a trace.”
[“Streamer, please, don’t go any further. I’ve changed pants three times already. If this keeps up, I’m gonna get rheumatism.”]
“Don’t be scared, guys. If a ghost kills you, you become a ghost. Then you can go after them!”
Li Yi gave a thumbs up and flashed a brilliant grin.
Everyone in the Live Streaming Room-
Creak-the hallway door swung open…
After years of neglect, the iron door was already covered in rust.
“We’re at the main entrance now,” Li Yi explained as he pushed the iron door open.
“The fire that year killed every patient on this floor. Since then-” Li Yi glanced around. Compared to the other floors of the hospital-
[“Streamer, my buddy once crashed in the caretaker’s room. Why not check it out first?”]
[“Wait up, I gotta hit the bathroom first. Streamer, don’t you move.”]
[“What am I scared of? I’m just gonna hide under my blanket and not come out. Rheumatism? Whatever, I’m a fashion king!”]
[“Shit, I’ve never been this freaked out by a horror movie.”]
Coming up from the hallway, Li Yi headed straight for the caretaker’s room.
He pushed the door open.
The nurse’s room was only about fifty square meters, with nothing but a bunk bed and a wooden table inside.
Li Yi swept his flashlight around twice, making sure it was safe before stepping in.
“This was the caretakers’ lounge for looking after critical patients. The fire took the caretakers too,” Li Yi explained.
There was no trash on the floor, just burn marks all over the walls from the blaze. It wasn’t as scary as he’d imagined.
Even though it’s been abandoned for years, it was still preserved just as it was before.
